:)
It's a thought. Maybe if I can some free time I'll add a short addendum full of my comments. Or I'll just comment here on some of the songs when people ask questions like- why is MC Frontalot so low. To which I would reply:

Though MC Frontalot's "Romantic Cheapskate" is a brilliant production, I feel that the metaphor begins to wear thin as the song goes on and moreso, the tone comes off more scathing than I think the author intended. That's why I ranked it so low. Plus, I'm just not a big Front fan.

Justincombustion wrote:Yeah, 164th!!! Seriously there were tons of great songs this last year. I'm always trying to get some non-songfighter to listen to something from here.
About the only songs I didn't see on there that I would have put there too would be Sven Mullets "I Thought I Loved You" and C Hack's "Rabies."
and 183rd.

As for Sven. If I would went to 300, it would've been on there but still kinda low. Just not my speed. It reminds me too much of that time in the 90's when grunge had hit and then up sprung grungy bands that were more palatable for the pop audience. Almost like a pop version of Dinosaur Jr. or Screaming Trees.

Ah that's a great list, Niv. I've just spent a very pleasant twenty five minutes reading everyone's comments.

(i would like to point out to Motherfunker re: 'getting all sweaty' that although I did say to Niveous 'I didn't like the original' I meant to say 'I didn't like the original as a choice of cover for me because ...' I was tired that night. Please don't beat on me at the next songfight UK)

I am pleased to be part of the 183rd, 164th, 133rd, 105th, 88th, 81st, 71st, 27th, 23rd, 13th, and 3rd entries on this list.

This had to have been a tremendous amount of work, Niveous. I would tip my hat to you even if I wasn't on the list at all, just because of the effort. Needless to say, I am flattered to have been part of so many entries on it.

ROCK!

Since we're showing off (:) ) I was directly involved in 170, 167, 157, 122, 120, 115, 106, 102, 85, 66, 61, 48, 45, 38, 24, 20, 17, 16, 9 and contributed to 118.

Actually, Niv, I think I would of put King Arthur's version of 'The Chair We Share' in place of my own. That version rocks and is kind of how I imagined it if I could play/sing/arrange/generally rock as well as him.

and while we're tossing out numbers, i noticed only one song by the JBB. but that was one more than Jim of Seattle got....

but hey, it's just one person's favorite list. it's obvious Niv has his favorite bands and artists well represented, and thats cool, it's his list. and i respect the effort that went into it.

but boasting about inclusion is kind of self serving i think.

Yup, that was the point I was trying to make. And I was having a little bit of a boast at the same time. I'm so post-modern :)

I think one of the major problems people are having with that song is this:
Niveous wrote:137. "Romantic Cheapskate" by MC Frontalot
136. "3 Day Waiting Period" by Charcoal
I mean, that's obviously a mistake of some sort.

er, boasting is self serving by definition, no?

Great list, Niveous! The only things I would have changed were the songs & the order they were in.

Well, that was worth waiting for.
I read a lot of it at work and got little done during that time. Oh well.
It was snowing too.
So how much effort did you put into deciding whether a song should be #153 or #152? Seriously. If you ranked all these it's mindboggling.

edit: oh yeah, i forgot to mention that this rocked.
