I "admit" no such thing. I use the search function (no need for quotes) to search for previous threads and posts that contain links and tips about songwriting and sound production that I need for reference. Search functions are the foundation of all database organization. That's what libraries have been for thousands of years.

You use it to see if we're talking about you. Good for you. You can use the internet.

As for your belief that this can be a community, I disagree and have laid out an argument. And your belief is already on the record, as you no doubt see every time you "Spy" on yourself. But you have no argument. Only assertion. Which makes you tiresome.

The shitball cocksucking administrators would do better to upgrade the "Search" and PM functions so that they help the members to organize themselves as a community. As a fact, I cannot find the things that I search yet they can find the things that they spy for. they have also shared the knowledge of their spying with other members. They spy on our IP numbers.

Those that support their function here are secure in the community. Those that soundly condemn their practices are unwelcome. They have your number and hold many consciences hostage. This discredits your opinion because it is not free of any conflicting interest. I refuse to allow them to hold me by my hostages.

Your IP number is the internet address of your computer's network connection. It is not privileged information. The Mods don't "spy" on your IP number any more than I "spy" on the phone numbers of people who call me. Any more than I "spy" on the names of people who talk to me in person.

You seriously need to think before you type. This is not a community. We've agreed on that. So I cannot be "secure" within it (whatever that means). I have not been enough of a dick to motivate the Mods from banning my IP address. That hardly "discredits" my "opinion": it supports it.

This cannot be a democracy because there can be no membership. There can be no membership because there can be no faith that the online personalities that associate with each other are uniquely connected to real individuals. That each of us can pop around from IP address to IP address means that you (a person) cannot be banned and that I can vote as often as I like. There can be no honest vote in that situation, just as there can be no honest "community".

I actually don't agree with that. There's a lot of people who I've met at one of the many live shows I've been to and there are faces and constancy behind many of the people here. I would definitely say there's a songfight community.

To say that the possibility of fraud precludes the development of the concept of membership is way too strong.

In any community there are a range of weaknesses that people can exploit to the potential harm of the community. People and corporations essentially cheat on their taxes and get away with it all the time, but that doesn't mean we pull the plug on the cooperative funding of social projects. In songfight just because someone can get a couple more votes than they 'deserve' doesn't mean that an overall honest community cannot exist.

In the end I just don't think most people really *want* the responsibility of having a direct say in the day-to-day running of songfight. I see it as a community service that is provided by some very cool people and I thank them for that.
