You know who always blew me away was Dylan Nau. That guy had some mighty fine arrangements.

King Arthur is totally awesome, too. His swirling layers of clean sparkling tone always weave a nice basket for the rest of the tune to sit in.

Damn. How could I have forgotten to mention King Arthur? He is definitely someone who deserves kudos for his guitar work.

I just want to say, Egg sucks at guitar. But in the most fascinating way I've ever heard.

I truly appreciate the sentiment, as much as I feel it to be undeserved. I think I have a decent ear, I write some good songs now and then, but I don't think I'm a very good guitarist in truth. I get by, but I'm sloppy.

And Hip Cola, and Leaf. When Gert got together last summer, I was blown away by the professionalism of all those dirty Gerties (Tonetripper, too, but he's on the bass.) Humble guys, great guys, and fantastic guitarists.

And when I saw Des play at his CD release party pretty much a year ago (I think it was April 22) I was amazed at how well he did the whole show, from the first songs when he was solo to the last songs with the full band.

MK mentioned my personal favorite, The White Hat. Always picking cool patterns in weird tunings. Beautiful arrangements. Hasn't been around in a long while, though.

I listened to the above Glenn cover, and I really enjoyed it. Well done Glenn.

Here's my tops: King Arthur, Lunkhead, Deshead, and the Klownhole guy. I also have to mention Big Crouton because he's great and I know him, even though he doesn't stop by here much.

Glenn whipped out a bass part for my Rocket Through It (on the Notes For Hope CD - Glenn, the link is broken, btw.) in a matter of 2 hours. He is on the top of his bass game even on no sleep.

I am usually a pretty grogged out grumpy-puss in the morning, but I had to work on Nur Ein this morning, so after an hour or so of "boont-deent, biddle-oont boont-a-beent a-deedle" I was in a FABULOUS mood.

Normally, on the popcast, I am Mr. grump shits, but today I was, um, Giddy Lee.

Man I would have to agree about Des and Boltoph. Since the second songfight I entered with Pipefist, for Wrath of God, I have been completely amazed by that man's perfectly on-time guitar. Such good melodies, too!

I'd second Dylan Nau and Pompeii. Josh Woodward was always my favorite on the acoustic guitar, and deshead was always another favorite no matter the occasion.

Hello great guitarists of Songfight!

Cartoonmonkey asked that I post a request for some guitar riffage. I'd oblige his need, but evidently he doesn't want any goddamn hippie acoustic crap. He's looking for RAWK.

Here's the deal. He's doing some... I guess you could call it "software" development for the people who make this thingee:

Here's what he'd need:

About 3 to 5 variations on a verrrrry short chord progreesion. (Oh... say I, IV, V) One could be straight fuzzed out power chords, one could be arpeggios, and one could be finger tapping, or some other hesher-tastic variation. (The more hesher-tastic the better) I'll give more details and instructions if anyone is actually interested.

The catch? Of course there's a catch. He's hoping to find someone willing to do this rockin' pro bono. Sorry!

Would anyone be up for such a gig? The pay is lousy, but it might be fun(?)
