I am beginning to find Facebook more and more humorous as I rewrite the details of how I met my friends. Hilarious

Reasons for which I am jealous of Hoblit:
Cake (2x)
Paul McCartney (2x)
Violent Femmes (2x)
PIL
Reverend Horton Heat
I also saw Sammy Hagar for free. Good margaritas. Had to pay for those, though.

Hagar was cool for the price and it was outdoors on a nice day. I was hammered laying there on the grass. A little slice of Heaven.
I'm jealous of anybody who had seen Social Distortion, NOFX, Green Day, The Misfits, The Dead Kennedys, or any other decent punk rock show back in the late 80s before I was old enough to get in a bar.

Missed all of 'em. First show was in '87, my senior year in HS. I saw the Dead a few times (so I'm told).
This summer,
Weird Al is playing nearby. The venue does a Second Stage thing where they have local bands do pre-show shows. Man, landing that one would be sweeet.

First concert: Hot Tuna, Joy of Cooking, Tower of Power and Gold, at Winterland, San Francisco, Friday December 3, 1972.
Wait... 12/3/72 was a Sunday, so I guess this was 1971...

Hot Tuna played at my school when I was a kid. I didn't go for some reason but I did get to briefly meet Jack & Jorma.

I saw Social Distortion numerous times in the early 90's. I even got to a pre-show party and meet Mike Ness - previously mention ex boyfriend won a contest. Social D was puts on a pretty good show. I got kicked in the nose in the pit.
I know Jim mentioned being jealous of Hoblit seeing Horton Heat so I'm gonna rub it in more by saying that Phil and I have seen the Rev number of times and he's great! Sorry to rub it in!

Yeah, Reverand Horton Heat has been to Spokane 4 times in the last few years. And man, that never gets old!
My first: Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer with a (then) unknown Alice in Chains opening up at the Clash of the Titans!!!
I had a 16 year old nerdgasm and I used the opportunity to feel up some old drunk skag in the pit. Good times.

I've seen all of them live except for the Dead Kennedys. But I did see Jello Biafra and some dude on guitar do about a 20 minute unplugged set together at Madame Wongs as a secret opener for the Ramones. They started by saying they owe so much to the Ramones and this set is in their honor.

we have a signed rev. horton heat 7" here in my office, which never got added to the station's music library. he thanks KUOI for being so supportive, and this and that, and then the kuoi review says the release is so-so, not really worth bothering. pretty funny.
first concert. embarrassing. don't want to talk about it. or any of the five or so after that one, either.

The DK's played at the local pub down the street from my house when I was 17. What they were doing at a suburban pub in Newcastle NSW, I have no idea. I didn't go - because I had my final HSC English exam the next day. That is probably one of the greatest regrets of my life. In the big scheme of things - losing a few points of my final Higher School Certificate mark would have been pretty insignificant compared to being able to say that I saw the DK's at a suburban Newcastle pub in the early 80's.
Remember that kids - Tex says: "School really isn't all that important".

Which album? Big Blue Sky and Snow in June are pretty good, the rest are ok... in my reality.

Today was a kinda sucky day. The 8th graders were at school for move-up day, and we had to be silent in a lot of classes, because, y'know, that's how high school classes are. I did get a lot of work done in the library though (writing a paper on military nurses in WWII, it's a good time!) When I got home we took photos for our green card(no smile! closed mouth! no glasses! hair behind ears! etc!) Then I found out that a friend's cancer is back

He got cancer in 6th grade, had his leg amputated, and has been in the clear since the summer before 9th grade. They thought he had pneumonia, but turns out the cancer's back. Bleh. Very sucky.
My first concert was Spice Girls in 1997 at Wembley Stadium. Yeah, I'm cool, I know it.

Ive seen NOFX and Green Day. I so wish I had seen DK.
My first band that I remeber seeing eber was some local bar band... they came on, played 'House of the Rising Sun'. I was like 7, and I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Then a little later on I heard the first Ozzy album, with Randy......That was it. My fate was sealed
The first band I specifically went to see was a local band, and they rocked.
The first Major I saw was Iron Maiden, with Anthrax opening.... wow.
Since then I ve seen a million bands, and some of em good.
My favorite gigs have been Dogs d'Amour, Donut, Napalm Death, Ozzy, Alice and Neil Young.
Cyprus Hill were awesome too.
Oh Wow ..yeh... and then there was the nearest thing to a religious experience I ever had.... Janes Addiction... OMGfirst about 15 yrs ago, and then again about 5 .... they were the bomb
Damn Ive seen so too many to give any kinda full list..... but any good band Ive probly seen em, along with a heap of shit bands

My first concert was The Caveat Emptour with The Fauves, Regurgitator and TISM. Ron Hitler stole my hat that night.
I think my favourite concert would be... Machine Gun Fellatio's On Ice Tour show at The Gov. It was just a really good night, and I got to lick beer from a girls cleavage. Always a good thing.
As for my actual day today, doesn't look to be too bad. My favourite sales person, Michelle, has put in her resignation, which is a bit sad. I'll miss her. Apart from that, its just the same old shit.

I remember seeing TISM and The Gurge together at Brizzy Festival Hall, many years ago. It must have been the same tour. The wonderful Festival Hall is now gone - pulled down by developers to build posh flats. Damn them developers and their black hearts. Damn them to hell.
No Fauves that night though, but I have seen them, supporting The Cruel Sea at the Metro in Sydney. The Fauves are great. And the Cruel Sea are probably one of the very best live bands on earth.

my first concert was KISS. 1977. Shortly after "destroyer" came out. "detroit rock city" was my favorite song back then. full fledged member of the KISS army.
second concert was black sabbath. an unknown band named van halen, who was touring around their first album (no such thing as a CD) opened up for them.........

I saw the Cruel Sea at The Gov, where Tex (no you yanks, not THAT Tex) took a woman handbag she had put onto the stage. Musicians stealing things appears to be a constant throughout my life, it seems.
