I don't really get out that much, but I still don't know of anything interesting here in San Jose. Whenever someone visits we always go somewhere else like San Francisco or Santa Cruz.
San Jose has a great museum of art. Take them there. Take yourself there :)

I wanted to be a Senator. But organist sounds awesome now, though not at a baseball stadium. More like in a dark cathedral. With bats...hey, BATS! And Senators are a baseball team, right? Huh...

1 month anniversary!

To celebrate, my now approved illustration of PP Bradshaw

Image

He's not meant to be giving the finger... but he still looks like he is.

Excellent disc golf course - did you ever play it? Where were you going to school? (just curious)

OK, here comes the long and boring story...

The Wine Industry Journal used to run an article in the back done by a ghost writer, called JJ Remengton. It was basically a character piece, where the subject was always wine in some way. Anyway, the guy that wrote that stopped it, oh, about a year ago now.

Now we have a new ghost writer and a new character, PP Bradshaw. Remengton was a kind of larger, stout, pompus kind of character, so it was decided to take Bradshaw in the other direction. I was given a description of his, did some sketches to get his basic appearance, and then we refined it to what you see above.

Oddly, though, the character has ended up looking a bit like Peter Dry, a fairly prominent wine writer and maker, as well as Justin, our old General Manager. In fact, I had just finished colouring Bradshaw on Wednesday, when we went out to a farewell lunch. Justin was there, and I didn't twig at first, until Lu pointed out that Justin looked like Bradshaw.

I burst out laughing.

Probably didn't help that I had drunk 3 pints of Pale Ale and had a glass of red wine.

Somehow I never heard about that and from a quick search it looks like it has been around since the seventies. I went to that park a time or two, but never wandered around. I'll avoid a direct reference to the school to avoid search engines (it's a smaller school), but it is practically across the street from that park/course on the other side of La Mirada Blvd (that should narrow it down).
