Hey y'all,

It is probably worth an occasional reminder that if you think of some song titles that you really think might be good for a songfight! then you should probably not post them here, as publicly suggested titles have basically no chance of being used.

There is probably an e-mail address you can use to privately suggest titles but I don't know what it is, because I am far too uncreative to come up with anything useful.

"The First Words of Cotton Wool"

Ideas from Quadell

by Quadell
Hello again. Some of you old-timers might remember me, or maybe not, but I'm your Quadell. I still download and listen to Songfight, and I still think you guys are the greatest.

Anyway, I'd like to see more titles which could be taken as song descriptions instead of prominent lyrics. For instance, take the title "Prayer for Pancakes". This could be written as a song with the words "Prayer for pancakes" in the chorus, or it could be an actual prayer, set to music, that never uses the phrase at all and yet still is obviously based on the title. Similarly, titles like "Sarah Vowell's Motto" and "The Truth About Aspartame" could be used as song descriptions which wouldn't necessarily need to have the title in the song.

Some ideas on that theme would be:
* Song to Cheer Sad Republicans
* This is Not a Polka
* Unsettling Fugue
* Song Ostensibly About Sex
* Crazy Eddie's Last Will and Testament
* Toccata in A Minor
or even
* Bizarre Instrumental

Although "Toccata in A Minor" would probably lead to some really bad puns. . .

All the titles could be used as descriptions rather than lyrics as it is.

Somehow, I think that a title like "Pieces of Eight" or "Devils Live in a Quiet Pond" is not what he was talking about. (Not sayin' you can't be creative--just not what he was talking about.)

john m was fronting hard when he wrote:(I Know I Got) Skillz

What's Up Doc? (Can We Rock?)

I'd love to see Frankie Big Face try to do something with "What's Up Doc? (Can We Rock?)" I mean, he managed to make a touching and nuanced song out of the title "Crinkle Binkle", so I guess anything's possible. :)

Here's some song titles that should be in good consideration:

Max Headroom Visits Chicago
Cheer Up, John Kerry
Film at Eleven
Do You Know What's Love?
In the '80s...
(A Little Dog Named) Snuggles
Ballad of Pauly Shore

The first one is a reference of an incident in Chicago on 1987 where a hacker in a Max Headroom mask hacked into two Chicago stations; the second attack interrupted a Doctor Who episode. Also, the "Snuggles" one takes a stab at a well known Casey Kasem blooper.

Well, sort of, since the group (plus the lawsuits) kinda still sound new to me. However, I am a fan of Casey Kasem's career as a voice-artist and DJ. It was that death dedication that made me laugh. It also made me think that he should do dub voices in hentai (Japanese animated porn) since him saying obsenities doesn't look too bad on him, although hard to imagine.

Actually, Mr. Garfunkel, Casey would voice the comic-relief character as usual. For example, imagine him doing the English voice for Nin-Nin on "La Blue Girl"! That would be hilarious.

This might be a dumb idea.

But we could do a matching set of titles. Like for example one week it might have "Go Away" as black and "Don't Go Away" as white.

They do that every now and then. "Happy/Sad/Short Life", or the three Beatles titles, or "Sarah Vowell's Motto" and the others. They even had a three-week related stretch once: "Under the Horse", "Under the Wagon", "In the Ditch".

I got some title ideas, i think you should stray away from something that doesn't produce a distinct feeling. Like "no, really", it makes it impossible to create an instrumental. Having said that, here's some titles i like

The Dream Crusher
That Exploding Emotion
Growing Old
Parking Lot Pimpin
