That's a fun line up. Are there archives of the shows that we can listen to, Marcus?

The lack of any Talking Heads is inexcusable.

hmm. I might've played Psycho Killer. They didn't occur to me, but I'll listen to some Talking Heads and pay special attention to the bass. I do love the band. But... y'know... time considerations. Some songs that I wanted to play but didn't have time for:
Cream - Sunshine of Your Love (and the bass isn't super noteworthy, mostly just doubling the guitar)
The Who - Boris the Spider
Animals - We Gotta Get Out of This Place
The Zombies - Brief Candles
The Rolling Stones - Under My Thumb
Broken Social Scene - Pacific Theme

I know it's too late to be included, but one of my fave bass tracks ever is David Crosby's "Cowboy Movie," featuring Jack Cassidy (Jefferson Airplane) on bass. It's on Crosby's "If I Could Only Remember My Name" solo album from way back when... great playing, great tone, and it's just a standout piece.

Late to the party.

Here are some for part two though.

Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive
Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
Funkadelic / De Le Soul (Not Just) Knee Deep / Me Myself and I
Hall and Oates - Say No Go
The Style Council - Long Hot Summer

I think the best Cake bass line is the one in "Never There".

Great Idea for a show.

Damn how could I have missed this while it was still a relevant question? Any Public Image Ltd song from their first two albums (I would have suggested either Careering or Public Image), also one of the Stranglers' early bass-lead classics, like 'Peaches'. The bassline to 'Heard It Through The Grapevine'. ESG's 'You're No Good'. There are so many, I think i could easily compile an alternate playlist if you ever do Bass II ...

Different People - No Doubt
The Vice - Sonata Arctica
Love - Sixpence None The Richer (kind of boring but extremely catchy)
Throw Away Your Television - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Take The Power Back - Rage Against The Machine
Panic Attack - Dream Theater
Carousel - Blink 182 (the intro)
Sinister Minister - Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

Pretty much anything by Flea, Les Claypool, or Victor Wooten rocks my world.
