<strike>Sorry, I believe this thread was posted while I was taking a vacation from the internet, civilization.</strike> As it turns out, I just missed this thread somehow. I was totally back by the 4th.
EDIT: <strike>crap, I'll encode it... I missed the 1 meg requirement.</strike> Encoded to (non VBR) mp3.
I have to have this! How do I put it on my phone?

I think it depends on the phone. Assuming your phone has the capability to play mp3 as ring tone, you would need to get a cable that allows you to upload it via your computer to phone. Some folks have the ability to email it to their phone and save it to their ring tone gallery from there. If you can get text messages then your phone probably has an email address... usually its something like ##########@your.phone.company.com
I have text messaging, but I've never used it.
I did get free ring tones before by calling a number, then hit a couple numbers.

BLT, try the site above. It allows you to send any mp3 as tone to your phone.

Thanks, by the way. I did try this, but it still didn't send me anything.
DRE! Those are great Hoblitones. I like the second one best I think.
Did you hear my use of the Hoblitone in the band and album cover making thread?

Be careful if you don't have a media/internet plan you can rack up extra charges pretty quick.
Better make ringtones at
http://makeownringtone.com and copy them right to phone's SD card (via USB / Bluetooth / card reader).

I remixed a classic for 2009. Or, perhaps it was for 1985. 1955?
Back to the Hoblit '09 Ringtone
I was able to put this ringtone on my phone by using
this site. You don't have to sign up for anything or send it to your phone from a website or anything. Just create the ringtone from the mp3 of your choice, download it, then e-mail it to your phone.
In the case of Verizon, it means e-mailing it to
5095551212@vzwpix.com (where you replace 5095551212 with your area code and phone number, of course.)
ROCK!

Ha Ha
(I would remove the number here on the board unless you want someone to harvest that email and spam you)

HaHa! So much more dramatic with an orchestra.
My phone doesn't have the interwebz, so I can't do this.
@Glenn. I don't know if it's a coincidence or you saw
my post with Hoblit's ringtone, but I just posted it this morning.
Hoblit, you're a household internet product now. Who'da thunk?

They would actually be spamming directory assistance or a fictional character with 555-1212. (It's not my phone number.)
The 555 prefix is known to be used in movies and TV.
ROCK!

You don't need the internet on your phone, just text messaging. There are ways to send brief messages through e-mail that arrive as text messages. You just need the proper e-mail address. Doesn't work with all phones, of course. With Verizon you send an e-mail to ##########@vzwpix.com (Where the ########## is your area code and phone number.)

Oh, now that's just too weird. I had not seen that thread!
I just found that website for making your own ringtones with mp3s the other day, and I started making my own. I remembered Hoblit's masterpiece, and wanted it on my phone.
Then I made the final touches on the remix this morning minutes before posting it here.
ROCK!

I know about 555, I just wasn't paying attention. Sorry 'bout that.

This is classic and now it's my ringtone. Thank you Chris and Glenn. My kids LOVE this!
I used this link to get it on my iPhone, which took some effort but I don't remember the exact sequence that worked in the end. But I don't care because I have the best ringtone EVER!
