Have fun in Japan.
The Japan trip isn't certain (well, it's certain that I'll be going eventually, it's just not quite settled as to whether they need me on this trip or not). I'll find out tomorrow morning. Thanks, though.

Why would anyone be upset about turning 21? I mean, even Lord of Oats.

I don't know, I don't see anything about being 'upset'... just some version of introspection. I'm not sure why 'this event would trouble' him, maybe he thought it would be night and day and all of a sudden a life with alcohol availability might somehow be a bad thing. ( While *I* shudder at the thought of life WITHOUT alcohol availability.) Or maybe 21 represents some other right of passage that I can't think of right now that affects him on a personal level.
Lord of Oats wrote:Alright, it's time I came a little further out into the open.

As I contemplate my birthday, I find myself somewhat in denial. I've had the thought that the passing of this event would trouble me. As it has begun, I find myself feeling fine, really, as disappointed and optimistic as before. One's legal calendar age is quite immaterial in so many ways. I have plans to have an uneventful day, on what ought to be a fun and exciting day.
I got a little weird around my 30th birthday but it was only because I was surprised that I had made that far. People who (say that they) love me stepped up for the occasion and it was a good experience. I have a friend who turned 40 and while she never really said much about it, I could tell that she was 'feeling' it.

I just think that LoO here is just a little introspective about his the span he covers here on earth and might emphasize his 21st passing. Its at least possible.

You're emphasizing a somewhat different set of words than what I took to be important.

I just figured that he might be "somewhat in denial" and "disappointed" about no longer being a kid and needing to grow up or something. One look around here should give him plenty of proof that it's not necessary.

NO, I didn't cheat. I did my homework therefore rendering an educated guess. I put forth A LITTLE effort and get labeled a cheater and my integrity attacked? No good deed ever goes unpunished.

I WANT MY PRIZE DAMNIT!

Rabid Garfunkel wins. I'm actually Morissey.

(Thanks for ruining the humor by digging up evidence, Hoblit.)

Yes, 21 it is. As far as I can tell, that makes this the official ranking:

01. Billy's Little Trip
02. Hoblit
03. Niveous
04. erik
05. fluffy
06. Jack
07. drë
08. Heuristics Inc.
09. drë
10. jackfrost
11. Reïst
12. drë
13. jimtyrell
14. drë
15. Sausage Boy
16. Spud
17. king_arthur
18. Spud
19. Ross
20. fluffy
21. Rabid Garfunkel

Anyone that participated in the extravaganza is welcome to make a request for a prize. I'll deal with all you later, but in the mean time, get those in. Hoblit, perhaps you need to go back and read the post about the prize system? I'll deal with all your terrible comments later. I have some drinking to do...(Haha, right. I actually did NONE yesterday...how terrible.)

Because you made two guesses? What do you want me to do? Average them?

Fifth place is pretty good. Would you like a prize?

I wrote:1. A new, original song, based on criteria that you set. Bonus points if you say something other than, "Write a song glorifying me."
2. A cover of a song you like (or just think I would do a good job with, or the opposite, if your intent is to punish me).
3. A cover of one of your own songs.

LoO, I'm not really trying to pick on you. My comments are just based on yours. I'm not trying to go out of my way to offend you. If you'd like, please consider this an apology if I HAVE offended you. Or go ahead and spit back, your choice.

NOW GIVE ME MY PRIZE!

As runner up with the correct guess then I assert that I qualify for the PRIZE!

I want to hear you cover the following songfight song from the past.:

Song: Highway
Artist: Broken Class

Hoblit, I'm not offended by what you said. I'd like to request that you keep away from my old MySpace, though, at least until I can be bothered to fix it up. But seriously. It's fine. If you thought I was referring to you when I said, "terrible comments," and I can see why you would have, the way it was phrased, well, I wasn't. That was directed at everyone.

NOW. I'LL GET TO ALL YOUR TERRIBLE COMMENTS EVEN LATER...ALL OF YOU. BUT THIS SEEMED URGENT BECAUSE NOBODY LIKES TO GO ABOUT THEIR DAY WHILST THINKING SOMEONE IS PISSED AT THEM.

No spitting here. Even if I didn't like you, I would totally pretend to. I have to get along with you. The Florida Songfighters have to stick together...well, not really. But it sounds nice. Well, it would be nice if you'd show me where they're hiding the chili cheese burritos.

I saw this film the other day, with this girl that I just wrote this song about, directed by a Gregory Hoblit. Is there any relation? I tried searching through posts on here for my answer, but it turned out to be impossible.

And uh, I'll do that song, if you want, and I like it and all, but I was hoping for something a little more challenging.

Gregory IS part of the same lineage but not necessarily a part of our family tree if you will. I am a fan of his though... I've seen every one of his movies. He was supposed to come out with another movie last year but didn't.

Was it Hart's War? Thats probably his 'biggest' movie. But Frequency and Fallen are two of MY favorites.

Optional Challenge for that song: Try to make it shorter. :P
