This is an example of a challenge from past competitions. It doesn't mean that the same challenge will be presented this year.

I doubt we'll recycle challenges, at least not yet.

I remember the challenge being "opposite sex vocals", but maybe all of the competitors were dudes. All challenges are judged loosely and uniquely by each judge.

Erik: The song with the highest point total earns immunity for the NEXT round. The lowest point total is out of the game permanently.

So if someone has immunity for the next week, do they even have to do a song?

Nope; a great example is Puce's Brownie Points, which he did even though he had a pass that week. The chorus was along the lines of "I don't have to enter a song, I'm just doing this for brownie points."

The opposite sex vocals didn't even necessarily have to be done by a member of the opposite sex - mine were all done by myself, pretending to be a woman.

:) What song was that for? I need to hear it.

El Balazo

I pitch-shifted my voice to play both "the woman" and "the pretty senorita" in the story

I don't like my chances of representing in Nur Ein III.

Timing is very bad - I'm shattered.

We will be flying out of Australia for NZ in late May, meaning that most of May will be spent packing up the house, cleaning the house, selling the house - as well as finishing up all my stuff at work. And sometime around mid-May - my studio will be put in a box and put on a ship across the Tasman.

I will still have my iBook with me though....

I guess it wouldn't hurt to try for round 0 and see how things go...

As far as I recall - only one person has actually used their immunity and not done a song a particular week.

(I won't say who - I don't want to be seen as picking on them  - though I do recall at the time, the term "big girl's blouse" was bandied about)

Someone has to scrape the bottom of the Nur Ein barrel, and I would like to claim that position. Sausage Boy is in, again. And will be knocked out by the second song, again. Bring it on!

I guess we don't have to actually declare in - right? - But I am so in!!!!

I love Nur Ein!!!!

BTW - The time of the opposite sex vocals, Bjam was in - but did not produce a song that round (i think) - something about AP US history or something.

So - if it goes up on the 27th it'll be due around may 2 right? I have a big weekend planned for May 2-4.

man, i felt bad for you last year. you were just shy of making the cut and right after the final 25 were announced, one person dropped out. i was hoping the nur-einers would bump you up into that spot, but it apparently does not work that way. (there were quite a few acts who dropped out throughout the whole event). good luck this year to everyone.

i may be in for the initial song if i have the time and the inspiration and can think of a good band name to enter under.

Alas, I have checked the dates and I will not be able to join this year... oh well!
Perhaps I should, maybe, do a songfight instead!

Actually there was one fewer drop out in 2007 than in 2006. All the droupouts were in the first three rounds in 2006, but they were a little more spread out in 2007. Last year I got really bored at work and made this:

looks like it was a 4 or 5 horse race the last few years. i would really like to see data on if the judges consistantly score acts they are familiar with higher than acts they have not been exposed to as frequently. familiarity adds instant likeability to a lot of things. i was hoping that the nur ein judges would be people who had no previous knowledge of any of the participants, but i conceed that that might be a tricky feet to pull off.

BTW: merisan's entries last year were incredible.
