Frankie Big Faces Thunder Storm is absolutely beautiful.

I love forgetting about these songs and then finding them over and over again.

Today I am here to gush about Phil Redmon. Phil is an extraordinary musician who has written 30 Abominominous songs and co-written 11 Spy vs. Piesongs in less than a year. While he hasn’t been a consistent competitor (he at one point did 25+ weeks in a row) as of late, his catalog is impressive and deserves another listen by those of you who are familiar with him, and a first time listen by those of you who may not have experienced the mighty force of Abominominous!!

**Please keep in mind that, while we are married, this praise is completely unsolicited, but well deserved nonetheless.

Now on to my real reason for posting. I would like to gush over Phil’s work with the Hell Yeahs. Phil has become the unsung (literally and figuratively) hero of the Hell Yeahs. The amount of behind the scenes work he has put into our 8 completed songs, and the numerous unfinished ones is staggering and deserves to be noticed. By behind the scenes I mean, the coaching, reassuring, teaching, patience, multiple takes, etc. I would also like to mention the tangible work that he has put into The Hell Yeahs. Phil programs the drums so well that they are often mistaken for live, he plays all guitars, comes up with the bass parts, shows me how to play them (I have little to no musical talent), ultimately writes the lyrics (with a little input from me, but he is definitely the wordsmith), he even helps me with the singing!, he stays up until unreasonable hours of the night mixing… Without him the Hell Yeahs would be nothing.

Time is very precious to Phil, he’s got a lot on his plate, and I would like to thank him for the countless hours (including the fruitless ones from yesterday) that he has put into this project for which he gets very little Songfight praise. Next time (hopefully there will be a next time) you write reviews for the Hells Yeahs, I ask you to take a moment and say a kind word to Phil. He is the reason the Hell Yeahs are even around.

what heather said. The singing Redmon's have brought much great music to the songfight community and rank among my favorite musicians here. and this after phil once called my song "dodgy tripe" and i called his wife an asswipe.

This is true to a point, but Abominominous is so much more free flowing and classic Phil while the Hell Yeahs follow rules, like the bass line has to be easy so Heather can play it, etc.

He's usually right there with us, or alseep (hence the late nights).

The Hell Yeahs, both of them, are my favourite band here, and certainly one of my top three bands of the last year. Anywhere.

Whenever I tell my friends about songfight, this crazy thing I do when i should be having a life in realworld, I point them to The Hell Yeahs' 'So Kind Stacey' and A-bomb's 'Adam & Steve', saying 'This is how good this place can be.' No-one has disagreed with me yet!

Firsty- Thanks wife, for the super sweet shout out. You made my day with that stuff, fer sure. I gotta say, though, that you are definately the driving force behind the Yeahs de la Hell. If it wasn't for you, and your insistance & enthusiasm, I'd never get our songs done.

Leaf- Thanks for the nod to the drum programmin'. It is easily the hardest part of recording, takes the longest (by far), and generally is the make or break point.

Jack- Dude, nod, grunt, etcetera. The check (your comics) is in the mail.

Wife again - Don't diss you self! You've always been a super fast learner, and I'm sure that if you had more than the usual hour or so to learn what I had just written, you could handle pretty much anything I could dish out. Man. MAN. I miss playing live with you, a la The Swanks.

Jon Cashish - Wowzers! Should us Hell Yeasers ever go on a world tour, the first stop of the U.K leg is at your house! Thanks for pointing our sounds at the uninitiated!

Doctor Worm kicks ass. And I'm only partially saying that because I got to meet him last weekend. The concert inspired me to check out some older Worm songs, and I'm rolling in happy right now.

A Timeline by Niveous

Early August 2003- Niv starts visiting SF
September 2003- Niv hears sonofsupercar for the first time and is unimpressed.
December 2003- sos releases "Dirty Chucks", Niv sees potential.
January 2004- Niv says sos' "Soft Orange Glow" was one of the best SF songs of 2003. But Niv is still not a big sos fan
March 2004- Niv goes on a momentary anti-Sf tirade, tells Jon Eric that sos isn't good, they're just loud.
May 2004- Niv hears "You are being Watched" and started to rethink his opinion.
June 9, 2004- sos releases "Under the Horse". Niv is amazed. CJ (the wife of Niv) asks why sos don't have a record contract. I concur.
June 19, 2004- WE HAVE IGNITION. Every track is phenomenal.
Sept 2004- Thanks to Freudian Slip, I check out sos's "Frannie". Niv has found a favorite sos song.
Nov 2004- Niv hears "Lucy Holds" and it is confirmed. Sonofsupercar is now one of Niv's favorite bands of all-time.

HOLY SHIT ME TOO. I was thinking about making a thread of songfighters we missed, and Dylan Nau is right up there. Other amazing songfighters I miss are Lonbobby, I wish Redcar fought more, Lemon Party, and I haven't seen Eddiebangs around for awhile. Or maybe I just haven't seen him but I don't think he's around on the new boards. Either way he's still not songfighting and that's what counts. There are more but I don't to peruse my entire SF library looking for them right now.

EDIT: I see Eddiebangs does have a name on the new boards but he hasn't been songfighting or I haven't been listening to the fights he's been in.
