Netflix instant streaming is rad... especially with the Xbox 360 hooked up to my big screen. :) Added to Queue!

"What do you do for a living?" is a lot better than "So, do you make a lot of money?" which I was asked this weekend... then she was offended when I asked "What are you? A gold digger?" heh...

QotD: This weekend was all about picking up chicks! :P

@ BLT: Which Belgian ale?

QOTD: Taking care of sickety-sick wife, smoking cessation (yes, those two are related), trying not to strangle the barking puppy (we rescued her a few months back, min-pin/pug mix, looks like Abe Vigoda), cleaning the studio, noodling in open E on the hollowbody.

No no no. It's called smalltalk. It expresses interest in the person being talked to.
No no no. It's called interviewing. It expresses interest in the person being talked to's income level. If you research it a bit (like I did) you'll find that women do this as a means of separating potential mates into "providers" or "lovers". If a woman shows interest in you after she finds out that you're a partner at a law firm or whatever, do you honestly think she's attracted to you? When I hear the "What do you do for a living" question right off the bat, whether it's innocent or otherwise, I lose interest.

Small talk would be something like "So what do you do for fun?" or "Boxers or briefs?"

Huh. Some people spend a good 50% of their waking hours at a job. I'm pretty damn interested in what they choose to do with that time. It does tell a lot about them. I'm not asking to find out about how much they make or if they command the respect of the underlings they control, or the commanding ass they work for. When someone tells me they hate their job, then says they've been doing it for years and always hated it, then my attraction to that person plummets. Someone who respects them self and is confident, in my court of opinion, positions them self for fulfillment not misery. I don't necessarily define who I am by what I do, but it is by nature a large part of who I am and what I do.

Unless you're talking purely about sexual attraction, in which case I feel pretty much the same anyway.

Ah, so it is. I have not tried that, but think it may not work well with a DSL through phone line connection, no? Anyway, a week from now is better for me, and can watch it on the tele with ma ladyfriend whilst couching it up. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

Is there any other kind of DSL?

Netflix Instant Streaming works just fine on DSL, as long as you have like 768Kbps. The more bandwidth you have, the better the image quality will be, but even on a relatively low-end DSL connection you should be able to at least get a watchable movie.

Ha, I said marry, didn't I. Just the fact that you said homo phone is funny enough for me.

At least you're easily-amused.
