Gee. I wonder if a band named the Poo-Poo Platters will show up this week. Likely that Oatsy might "know" them, as well.

Nothing stupid about it. I'd lay good odds that most first submissions are G&G - I know mine was. And you'll probably get slaughtered on the review thread: G&G is easy to do (poorly) and very hard to do (well). You'll need some fine pipes, or an interesting melody and/or some great guitar chops (preferably all of the above.)

I summarize the general reactions of reviewers here not to discourage you or give a course about how to "win" (God knows, I never have) but because SF is often about pushing the boundaries and constant criticism aimed towards improving your songwriting skills. Take the next few days and fiddle: give it a bridge (or take it away); add a lead guitar part; translate the lyrics into Hebrew and sing them that way (... ooooh Russian punk song... make a note...) anyway, experiment and refine. Yes, definitely refine.

This one is going to contain the second guitar solo I've ever recorded. Just to warn you all, I'm pretty sure the ghost of Muddy Waters is going to punch me in the face for this one.

Pigfarmer Jr wrote:I've been checking in to songfight for a while and finally wrote a song to the title this past week. I did a little acoustic/vox quick recording and sent in my first songfight submission. I probably should have done up a better demo, but I just wanted to get it done and the song seem suited.

So I'm in (for the first time.)

I'm feeling this title! I got some super sexy evil shit going so far. If I can get it done, it's going to fucking rock the jam session for sure.

Might need to call in some collab though.

Um, I'm sick. Not terribly ill, but sick enough to be out of this week's fight. Which is sad, since I had every track but my vocals recorded. :(

By the way, Ford's Theater Disaster is actually a frakkin' band this time. We're gonna rock you.

I tried to pull it together on Sunday, but just couldn't. Ended up BBQin' and playing "are you smarter than a fifth grader" on wii (of which I hate both) with the fam and a few others. But once I get liquored up, everything is fun at some point.

In.

And glad the deadline came up in IRC, so that Steve could be in, too.

This makes 9 in a row for me - my longest entry streak in a long time.

I'll be in, with another one of my shorter, jauntier tunes.

It probably won't win, but I'll betcha five bucks it's the brightest song this fight.

I'm just finishing up mastering. Pretty much going to hate my life tomorrow.

If anyone says I sound like metallica again, I'm going to lose it.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

That sounds just like something Metallica would say.
