I've been at Tesla Motors for 2 years now, although I've had many rides (including the Model S mule), I had yet to be the driver until Monday.

Wait so it actually exists as something other than a proof of concept that's been "coming soon" for the last 10 years?
Or is it the proof of concept you drove?

we've delivered nearly 400 cars (roadsters) since September and we're ramping up, currently we're at about 30 a week. We have a couple years before Model S will be in production.

You work for Tesla Motors? Holy crap, I didn't know that. Well, why would I know that, it's none of my biniz. But awesome. I think the S model has got to be the sexiest electric I've ever seen yet. It's cars like this that will change the thinking process of America.
So, how does it drive? I'm sure it isn't quick, but I bet it handles great. I remember reading in Road and Track (I think it was the S model) that the Lbs of torque to the wheels was pretty much the same as other high performance gas powered cars on the road.
