The Song Fight Bulletin Board

Maybe someone can make a DVD of an excrutiatingly slow screen-saver? I like the matrix-type graphic ones, and I saw one of a kind of weird rube goldberg machine. I worry about making a video too much more interesting to look at than the band - unless that is the effect that you want? Synchronizing something to the show in any way sounds impossible for lack of rehearsal time.

Getting six songs into thirty minutes, with configuration changes and all, sounds optimistic too, but I'll dig into all of them with equal priority until I hear otherwise. I can come in saturday any time / place. Even if only some of us can make saturday, we'll probably be glad we did in addition to sunday morning. I mean, it's going to actually be fun to do. So, just give the word.

Two more things:

1) Does anyone remember what key "Don't Think I Don't Miss You" and "Rhymes with Lucia" are in? I keep fiddling the wrong notes.

2) I'm bringing my electric, but I'll need an amp for the rehearsal; is this feasible or should I look for a Pignose or something?

I don't have an amp.

I have a not very good small bass amp suitable for rehearsing. If we're coming to NJ saturday, I'll definitely be driving and it's easy to bring it. Sunday, not so sure what we're doing?

I'm good; I picked up a little clip-belt amp from Musician's friend. It was only $20 and I didn't see the harm. Heck depending on its tone, maybe we can use it for the gig itself.

I'll f**k around with effects and the like, slow all the footage down to a crawl, etc. I can make a little silent MOV / AVI file (whichever is smaller) of say 10 minutes, then upload it to my site if someone 'over there' can then download it and burn it 3 times over onto an american format DVD, so it plays consistently.

The resolution will be pretty bad but given low-light and band performing in front of it, that might actually add to the atmosphere. Or the tension at least

That sounds like a great idea. Plus we'll doing "Ellis Island", so it sounds like a great fit.

Saturday - I can drive to casa Niv for rehearsal and give a ride to people in need from NYC.

I can bring:
- Roland Jazz Chorus amp with two channels (it has an attitude, but generally compliant)
- electric guitar and bass
- 6 / 12 channel mixer
- mics
- pocket theremin / sound generator

I burned a DVD-on-a-CD for this... I tried it on my old persnickety player and it didn't like it, but my 3-year old player played it just fine. 3 copies back to back in the same track. Hope it works. In case of it not working I'll try to remember to stick the movie on my laptop for you also.
