Some quick examples of personal experience that made me think Twitter was kinda neat-o:

1. Being on a radio show, and having a few friends listening to the show as a direct result of reading about it on Twitter. They even interacted with me as the show was happening!
2. Starting to go to karaoke on Mondays after being invited by a friend through Twitter.
3. Posing questions to twitter via text message, and getting results from multiple friends that follow me on the site.

I like the 140 word limitation on posts, too. Makes you consider your wording a little more carefully.

Bottom line: Don't like twitter? Don't join! No one is forcing you to do so. I set up this thread for the people that have a genuine interest in the site.

ROCK!

Nope, I've always been torn about the negative aspects computers have on my life - and twitter just seems like another thing to tempt me to further alienate myself from the far-more-enjoyable/tangible life I have around me. Also, I gave in and bought myself an iPod touch so yeah, I do enjoy things that are currently popular.

I do have a genuine interest - that's why I was asking about the positive aspects. Sorry if you took it differently.

I did not see this thread but I have been on Twitter longer than pretty much everyone else even heard of it, which is how I managed to snag twitter.com/fluffy

Note that the limitation is only 140 words if you use an ideographic language that's supported by Unicode. For the rest of us it's generally 140 characters.

Wow. I couldn't keep my front page news announcements that short if my life depended on it.

Haha, thanks. That concept is going to be used again and again for my albums, I think.

Yes, TWO underscores. I only started tweeting a few months ago, and both benbradley and ben_bradley were already taken.

I keep getting emails from this Adam guy from twitter (whom I don't trust!) telling me how to twitter better, etc. This is why I hate this kind of stuff. It's like we're being brain washed and everyone seems ok with it. I'm not ok with it. I refuse to sleep next to that giant seed that looks like a pod of some sort. I hope there are others like me so we can carry on our species. To everyone else, sorry about you turning into goo. :(

If you are getting unsolicited emails then you have done something wrong. Make sure you aren't following him - they can only send you emails if you are.

Also, turn off 'notify me when people follow' because that's just stupid.

Thank you, fluff. I'll do that now. And now that you mention it, I must have chosen to follow this Adam guy thinking it was our Adam, aka Puce. I was giving Puce a chance.
