So I've got this idea using both titles... "Schadenfreude Fortune Cookie"
Can I submit the same song for both contests using the two different titles? Is that legal?
Someone let me know cause I've got to get started.

I think that is fine, and mister Tex/Caravan Ray has done it before (I believe).

I am sure that there was a song submitted by Tex for a Nur Ein title that was also submitted by Caravan Ray for a different songfight title the same week. But I don't remember which titles it was done for.

Wow, this isn't going well for me. My guitar track is totally screwed up, and I'll have to begin again on that one. Might not even get it finished ... we'll see I guess.

Mine is recorded and except for the low tech nature of my set up sounds pretty decent.
It starts out with some classical guitar that you all liked last week, and then picks up the pace with a beat. A bit of humor and sarcasm and even a guitar solo and some background vocals. And more than three chords too, actually I think it's 8 chords, 10 if you give me credit for different forms of chords. That's alot for me!
I will once again ask the judges to listen without prejudice, I know I came in 24th and then 17th, but I can only hope that each song stands on it's own.
I'll mix it down and send tonight. We're going to the circus!
Have a great Sunday!

And I'm sure they will. Except for Judge 4. He is a complete bastard.

I have to agree with Paco. Time limit is part of the challenge. If it gets down to the wire and you've only got one afternoon to pull it together, well, a lot of great stuff can happen in one afternoon. Some of my favorite WreckdoM songs happened in one evening, Punk Bartender being one of them. You can do it! I believe in you!
We had a hell of time with this tune, and even though it's now in a place I really like, not sure it'll get through to the next round. But oh well, we get voted out, the world will still have one more totally bat shit crazy WreckdoM song, and I'm psyched about that.

Nigel, Reist, Nouveau Pauvre, and Test Week Hiatus are all unsure of their ability to make it in. If none of those four get songs in, then there will only be one cut this week, with the remaining songs passing through by default. It seems the challenge this year is less in the competition and more in just finishing on time.
As a likely benefactor of this, my opinion is mixed. I don't mind a free pass to one more round, but if indeed four of this week's cuts turn out to be due to non-attendance, I'll always wonder...

Indeed it's always a shame when people drop out. Some of the best acts last year (Add and JBB come to mind) dropped out and I felt like I'd cheated my way through to the later rounds. It's kind of unavoidable though I guess.
Anyway I'm in, but it's pretty patchy. I added a bit in the middle because there was no schadenfreude-ness in the song really. The new bit satisfies the title but I think it makes the song worse.

I agree that it is a bummer to see einers drop out and yet also share the relief in teh idea it may lead to an easier pass to the next round. Also that the time pressure is definitely an additional non-optional challenge each week. Those close to me know that my eyes will soon be a little baggier when I say "Almost time for this year's Nur Ein!
See you on the boards - [edit:4.3 hours and counting.]

Sorry it's a long one. Got away from me a bit. Already have story boards for a short cartoon with it.

I've got one foot in the door! One verse and one chorus submitted. I only had two hours, but I'd be disappointed with myself if I didn't try at all.... I doubt I'll make the cut with this, but losing by losing will be a much more honorable death than just giving up. I hope?
Edit: Please forgive me.

It seems that I might fit in better in Round Two if I were to say that I'm out, or that I sent in something I whipped up quickly, but I can't say that.
Mine is sent.
While my song may do well, or not, I know that I haven't had this much fun writing a song in years, and I hope that comes across when you hear it.

I'm enjoying seeing all of these people crack under pressure and fade into obscurity. I think there is a German word that describes it....

Phew... IN. And I even managed to include all the instruments I recorded. It's more bare-bones than I'd planned. Sting is probably going to have my ass for breakfast again, but I can just make it through this round without next week should be less hectic.
