Thanks for the feedback. I'll continue working on them this week, and we'll see which one is better by Sunday. I doubt I would be kind enough to hold back even if they somehow suck by then...

Ok, let me rephrase.

To maximize Song Fight's resources for everyone who wants to participate, please limit your entries to one song per week.

Does it need to be more official than that?

I'm not doing a song this week - but if you want to send me what you have of your 'extra' song - i'll try to do a cover of it for you and enter it

I did that once and Lunkhead put in a nice rendition of my words. Very cool experience.
no it doesn't still exist -- but according to the description of the lyrics thread thingy, lyrical donations ought to go................ here, i think.

also: i did that once too, and future boy did some rather cool stuff (as boy and guitar) with the 'thats not what i need' i wrote.

The Unknowns 'From This Day On' was a lyric-mart job - and it even made Niv's Top 200 List!

I remember that song. It was mixed really really well. :)

I tried to write some lyrics and this is what I came up with:
The Truth About Aspartame
...
...
I don't know what the fuck it is

apparently, however, based on your ability to post on this board, you seem to have the internet at your disposal...

i have a guitar within' my grasps... for one night... and one night only... so we'll see...
i'm leaning towards 'the truth about aspartame'...
but it's mostly up in the air... we'll see what i can do with a short amount of time... and figuring out how well i can mic this guitar...

Hmm... came up with a really clever lyric about "The Trouble With Aspartame," got it all tracked and ready to mix yesterday and then realized this morning that that ain't the title. :( I could redo the vocal tracks, but the approach doesn't work so well with the corrected lyric.

Edit: not only that, but apparently I mispronounced the word all through the song anyway... wouldn't have guessed that "e" at the end is silent, and it definitely doesn't work with the corrected pronounciation.

Oh, well, it was all country and woulda been widely disliked anyway. Maybe next week...

i'd've liked to hear it, king!

also when the title first went up i was thinking the exact phrase "the truth about..." was kind of awkward anyway, and if i was going to do a song for that title i wouldn't have used that phrase... i don't see anything wrong with saying "the trouble with...", since it'd still be based on (or inspired by) the title... which is the only real requirement anyway.

Q: How do you interview potential bandmates?
A: Songfight, baby, Songfight.

Here comes a helping of the Truth... served Rabid-style.

Game on.

you're nuts, man. there's a world of difference between "the truth about" and "the trouble with". geez. i would have had to go out there and personally brand you with a big ol' nasty DISQUALIFIED, Click Robot style.

I'm in with a slow (prolly too slow), depressing hangover song for 'The Truth About Aspartame'. I really like it but no doubt you'll find it boring and earnest ;p

Yeah, well, actually, I've been trying to figure out a way to make it work as "the truth about..." and if I get some time tomorrow morning to redo the vocals and crank out a mix, I'll send it in. It uses the phrase twice in the chorus, right at the start and then near the end, and I think I can change the starting one to "the truth about..." and it'll work. As far as the pronounciation of "aspartame," it's not actually rhymed with anything, so I think it just sounds weird to pronounce it differently, but it isn't as big a deal as I thought.

But it'll only get submitted if it gets fixed first...

Here's hoping, KA. I'd love to hear your lyrical take on the title, if nothing else.

Let me be the first then, johnny (based on the lyrics, at least... I'm sure I'll be eating these words for dinner, heh, after hearing the always impressive music). Have some of my silliness, please. Got plenty to share!

Now with extra drum machine, even.

Argh! I was so close to having a new Magnetbox song for "Prep School," but we ran into some timing issues with the live drums and I ran out of time to fix them!

Man, I was so looking forward to this. The song sounded a bit hopeless early on and we were able to get it into a decent state. Unfortunately, this one will have to be put on a back-burner for now. :(

Lots of luck to everyone who did finish their song.

I took an hour out of my night to record and submit a very classy song called Prep School. I hope you all can at least tolerate it. I know I make shitty, shitty music, but it's fun, and I prolly wouldn't do it were it not for Song Fight.

But I also feel kinda bad because I talk about this girl in it, and how she's a slut and a terrible person. She prolly wasn't really all that bad a kid. I just didn't like her cuz she was way, way cooler than me. You know how high school is. It's just that random-ass-lyrics thing I do. I say stuff without thinkin' about it. So I'm sorry, cocaine-hair-girl! I don't think you're all that bad, what, with your yummy cocaine-hair...!

Additionally, I have eight ( 8 ) Gmail invites, and since Gmail was given to me by a song fighter for the purpose of song fighting, I think it'd be nice to hook up some other song fighters. If you wants, shoot me a PM.

Love,
Brian (the Special Relatives' only regular member)

My song for The Truth About Aspartame is done and sent. Your song will probably die if it gets too close to mine, on account of all of all the waves of awesomeness that radiate off my song.

Cause of death: radiation poisoning

I will send a tasteful wreath to the funeral and shed a phony (but believable) solitary, manly tear when I read a solemn Scottish poem at the wake.
