I'm way behind on this too. And my laptop died this morning. Noisily and without warning. Uh oh.

10 songs done, and one finished bar mixing. Three to go. I am so in front (apart from someone who has posted 13 song titles with no songs, which doesn't count in my book.) Go check 'em out, whatever Niveous says I think it's one of the most interesting things I've done in a long time, and other folk seem to agree with me, judging on the comments.

Medieval-esque seems to be a recurring review point. Anyhoo, it's there, just waiting for you to discover it.

You're FAWM stuff is really great, J$. Your concept album has proven an effective catalyst, indeed.

Yeah J$, I don't know which I like more. I'm split now between Signs of Life and the 2nd Tiny Paws album as my favorite J$ album. Tiny Paws has brilliant tunes like "Mandruff..." but SOL has the rock anthems.

Thanks Niv.

I HAVE FINISHED! TA-DA! With a week to spare too .... you can check out the fruits of my three week labour here..

I'm really pleased with it. I shall be popping up a few bits and pieces to this mini-site in preperation for transferral to the new imminent Johnny Cashpoint website, where you will be able to stream /download for free / buy remastered posh real CD with colour cover, wordy booklet and extra songs.

But all that is for March ... right now, if you haven't already (could there be any of you?) click on the link above or below, and go experience 39 1/2 minutes of the only concept album about walking to work through London that I know of!

May I give you my hearty congratulations. I shall listen to it tomorrow morning as it should be, on my cross-London commute.

Not that I'm jealously nitpicking, but isn't there a song about a tube station? Hmm?

heh heh, yes, but I still have to walk as far as the platform, where the song concept does an impressive fade-out fade-in to Camden High Street :p

So ....

Image

I mentioned in a coupla places that I'm going to 'release' my FAWM project as a real CD - well, probably a CD-R as I don't want 500 CD-As (and that's the minimum run I can find) - and there has been a real swell of interest. Which is nice :) I have half a dozen people so far who want a CD.

It will have full colour cover art (as above and a back, obviously!), a 16 page lyric/sleevenotes booklet, and I will probably include, as bonus tracks, 'Industrial Folk' an EP of the other songs I recorded in February remixed and remastered.

If I charge anything at all, it will be cost - I am hoping that I can stretch to covering the cost myself but if I can't (depending on numbers I guess) the cost of everything (inc. p&p) will be no more than UKĀ£4 / US$8. I will have a paypal account etc if that is the case.

So if you're interested, say so here, or pm me, with an e-mail address. I will add you to the 'SOL Mailing list' - which will consist of a single e-mail only, when the CD's ready, giving details. I will then delete the list, without selling it to some friendly viagra company :)

Let me know!

I am very interested. You can add me right to that list: infoATjimtyrrellDOTnet

I just got my computer back from the computer guy. He actually salvaged most of the data on the old hard drive. I've got to redo my sound setup, but I'm going to try and make and end-of-month push to finish FAWM. I've only got 4 songs so far (3 recorded).

You're on the list, Jim! Thanks!

I hope you get some more out, I really enjoyed what you've done so far, and want to hear that 'Run Faster' ...

if you want to ship from the states, i know where you can get 100 or 50 made, or less even. diskfaktory, bryan's shortrunmusic, etc.
both will take wav uploads instead of mailing cds.
return shipment would get expensive tho!

Oh really? That would be cool - I'd like the real thing rather than a CDR ... I'll check 'em out, but you're right getting them shipped back to me would be horrifically expensive!!

Oh yeah, a proper J$ CD
Add me to 'the CD is ready and the plot is...' mailing list.

Regarding making of said CD for as few pence as possible: Check out this written by Josh Woodward http://www.joshwoodward.com/d/1350.html
Or there's this company in London http://www.amstore.co.uk/ if you don't fancy long nights over a hot cd burner.

Good on you Mr Cashpoint.

Count me in Johnny! I haven't listened yet, but you are on my weekend's itinerary, and I want to support this kind of thing (hoping to have a release myself at some point). I want one.

Cool! Well, you haven't heard it yet, so I won't hold you to it come Monday if you can't stand it, but thanks anyway!

It's almost that time again!

FAWM 2006 (About / FAQ)

I'm moving to a new apartment just before this kicks off, so hopefully I won't need a Puce Booth off the bat, but I'm "in" either way. Are any other songfighters planning to participate this year? J$, I imagine you're all over this.
