May I make a suggestion to the fightmasters? How about making this fight's deadline Tuesday at 10am, or maybe Monday 10pm? It's MLK day, and I'm sure the folks who have the day off could use some extra time on their entries.
*Note that if you say no, you're automatically a racist.

I want to be in. I'm not sure yet. If you are a follower on twitter, you can see my dilemma.

In response to: FluffyMikeB on Twitter "I want very badly to write a 5+ minute epic. But would anyone listen to it all the way through?"
Unfortunately probably not. Unless you actually record an "epic". If you are going to take an out of tune guitar, and a drum loop and some random midi notes, and "rone" over top of it all for 5+ minutes, then the answer is "no".

Do you record songs to create a song, for yourself and anyone else who wants to listen...or to have songfighters hear them once just to write a review?
I always listen all the way through - it's basic courtesy. Even though I won't be in this fight - taking a fight off to sort out my synths for FAWM.
Record an epic if that's what you feel like. What's the absolute worst that can happen? The three songfighters who bother to review say something short and uncomplimentary about it. Though I'm not sure five minutes counts as an epic

.

I know this isn't directed at me, but I feel badly that my reviews have dropped off. Time, life, TIME/LIFE magazines. I love reading them, reviews that is, certainly, but enjoy writing them as well. I shall return, it's just a question of when. (not that my reviews are anything special, etc., etc.)

I'm in with another G&G entry. Considering it as such, I think it's pretty good.

Now I gotta get my GoM done today too.....

I'm in with a country song. Wish I'd had more time to work on the backing vocals, but they're better on the second chorus

Those who hate country songs on principle are welcome to skip over it.
Part of the reason I haven't been around much is that I've been having "mouth pain" issues on and off for the past year or so... it's not a tooth problem, though I think it's something that developed following a root canal. So I'm very pleased to be able to sing at all again... plus, after three or four years of trying to find a replacement CD writer for my Yamaha recorder, I stumbled across one in an old laptop we were tearing apart for other reasons. So for the first time in a long time, I can actually mix on the recorder and export the mix digitally (and back up the song as individual tracks!).
Also, my official tally is now 960 songs written and recorded, and one of my resolutions for this year is to get to a thousand (without just pulling a Van Morrison and recording 40 improvised G&G minute and a half "songs"). I know, quality vs. quantity, but a thousand songs has been something I've been aiming at since 1977 or so, so this is a big deal for me.

Welcome back Charles! I'm looking forward to listening to it. I'd love to help with at least one of the 40 remaining songs. Let me know if you want to do one for FAWM (14 songs in 28 days). Do you count Gawking Urethras songs toward to 960, or do you only count ones you write solo?
