Hey, quick question for the local organizers: will either venue have a piano?

I don't think Mojitos does but we can provide some kind of keyboard for people somehow.

Yeah, I figured there would be keyboard(s), but the presence of a real 88-key acoustic piano might influence some of my song choices. :)

Until I hear otherwise, I'll just plan for no piano.

SoCha has a piano in front (although I don't know if we could move it to the back of the house), and I have an 88-key weighted keyboard.

Hey Lunk, take me off the list (or make a "maybe" list). If I do get lucky enough to make it, it'd be as/with the Primitive Screwheads, unless Max has sworn off playing with me, heh.

Though it has been a while since I've been to a Giants game...

Good luck, and have a fun time! Rachael and I wanted to attend this momentous 10th anniversary show, but it's looking unlikely. Rachael has to ask for vacation time months in advance, and it was too late to get that weekend by the time the show's dates were announced.

I don't have much room to complain, since I haven't offered my take on this until now, but I think a Sunday evening show might be a bad idea. The only people that are going to be able to stick around to watch or take part in a Sunday show are going to be the semi-local folks and the people that are able to request that Monday off. A good number of songfighters will probably be heading home by the time Sunday evening rolls around, so attendance is likely to be sparse. I hope I'm wrong.

Sincerely wish we could be there. Bummed about having to miss the return to where the live fights all started.

[EDIT] Don't get me wrong, as the host of last year's event, I can appreciate the difficulties in throwing together one of these shows. It's an overwhelming task at times, and It would be especially tough in an area where the venues want to charge you ridiculous fees for the event. That's why I feel like I really don't have any room to talk on the subject, since I have waited until now to put my two cents in. Nevertheless, the Sunday show could prove to be more effort than it's worth, but I'll leave that up to the attendees and planners to decide. You might decide that it's a great idea, based on the schedules of the people that can be there.

ROCK!

That's too bad, Glenn. It would have been great to see you two again.

As far as Friday vs. Sunday goes, I hear what you're saying. Hopefully people can take off Monday rather than taking off Friday.

I intend to be there. Sign me up for a slot on whichever day I'll get to play the longest on. :)

It's starting to sound like we'll get one-hour sets, the way things are going. ;)

What about: Minty Handy, State Shirt, Evil E, Seamus, ADD, 15-16puzzle, Marcus Kellis, The Booty Chesterfield Trio, Steve and Ross Durand, BLT, Hoblit, Anti-M, Pray For Mojo, or other people who are relatively nearby and/or have attended previous live events?

And you newbies out there, don't be afraid to make the pilgrimage. We are all very nice people who will not eat you or make you part of a human centipede or anything like that. Nor will we care if you suck. It's really all about getting together and having a good time, and often making new friends.

Someone should probably reach out to those individuals. Many of them have not contributed to Songfight recently, and might not be aware that the date has been set.

I cannot second this heartily enough.

Thirded. I was a noob last year in Spokane, and was not eaten nor made part of a human centipede.

I believe Ross Durand can't make it due to summer camp duties. I don't recall if Steve said anything one way or the other at Long Beach though.

Dang.

I really wish we could have gotten a date and so on sooner. I guess not every year is going to be fantastic though.

well you can move me from maybe to yeah. I'm pretty sure I can get Eric there (he's in Mill Valley so he's close, and i haven't seen him in awhile, so I'll guilt trip him into coming) so brody will be there. in some form.

Mid July is going to be hard just based on my monetary situation. I finally agreed on going on a family trip to see folks whom I hadn't seen in 20 + years (And a couple I had NEVER seen) and took a week off work. I just got back this week.. So no I'm a bit tight in the wallet.

I WANT to come though. So, I'm in the 'maybe' category. If I do make it, I will be poor though...very poor.

Hoblit, you can sleep on my couch if you want. (And if Hoblit doesn't take it, anyone else who is tight in the wallet can.)

It unfolds and is quite comfortable. Marcus Kellis can vouch for that, if he ever shows up here again.

Oh, and I'm close to BART (walking distance), making it a pretty easy transit from the airport, too.
