Looks like we are in need of some art.

Anyone still have any of those pictures of me as "the last brick in an empire of bricks?"

Archive.org didn't archive Gearfight VII: Songfight Survivor, so it's probably lost in the internet ether.Generic wrote:Anyone still have any of those pictures of me as "the last brick in an empire of bricks?"

Oy. Maybe I'm just being über-impatient, but it figures the first fight I enter and actually WANT to see is delayed.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure our gracious hosts do not get paid to do this, and have other more important jobs to take care of. I'm afraid songfight, though close to their hearts, does not pay the bills, even for its own bills. Not to mention, for them to post the fight there must be album art, and a review thread.

But of course, I knew that. I'm just being annoying. I apologize. And I figured it would only make sense to post a review thread after the fight goes up, because otherwise.... what is there to review?

Re: Turn It Loose! (Favourite Lego Bricks prefight)
Mr. BBABM has it right. When the fight is posted, a fight page is created, and on that page there is both cover art and a link to the review thread: the existence of both are a precondition of the posting of the fight. Obviously, I could create a review thread, but then I have enough to do, right? If no one cares sufficiently to either create art or create a review thread, then I figure there is no hurry in posting the songs, either. Also: get off my lawn!

I'm not sure if those are the adjectives I would choose, but as a newcomer, it doesn't hurt to check the place out a little bit and be careful with the way you phrase your comments and questions.FormerDominator wrote:I hope I'm not coming off sounding like a picky, obnoxious, spoiled, conceited n00b or anything...
If objectionable is going to be an issue for you, you may have to do some self -filtering at this site, as far as i can tell there has never been censorship and everyone is free to express themselves. This occasional results in material that could be objectionable to some people.
You are more than welcome to create an art submission account and submit entries if you'd like to be sure there is something cleaner in the options.
Or else you were being sarcastic, in which case, joke on me.
Either way, welcome! I hope you like it here (and even better if we like you, too

Yeah, I was being a little sarcastic. I'm fine with it, but I do have younger brothers who constantly hoover over me whenever I'm at the computer. I'll try to hop off a little and, you know, maybe not complain so much.

Re: Turn It Loose! (Favourite Lego Bricks prefight)
Actually, there is one exception: we don't allow certain words to appear on the front page, and we DO occasionally get the idiot who wants to call himself "Fuckhead" or some such. We realize that a lot of people look at the site at work, etc., and we don't want to get auto-filtered or auto-banned from their workplace, so the idiot comes out as "Fsckhead". The real name is generally restored when the songs are moved to the archive.Ross wrote:as far as i can tell there has never been censorship and everyone is free to express themselves. Nevertheless, we do RESERVE the right to censor submitted material if it is REALLY out of whack.

Two or three fishing songs don't bother me. It's the same fishy story week after week after week after week that gets to me.

Re: Turn It Loose! (Favourite Lego Bricks prefight)
And I did mention in the very first post of this prefight thread that I wasn't going to be able to do cover art this time due to being in the hospital (just home today and recovering, but don't count on me for the current fight, either). The cover art is the one that really has to show up, it just takes a few keystrokes for somebody to start a review thread. I've been doing a bunch of cover art lately since my face hasn't been working well enough for me to sing, but hopefully that will change here soon.. so anybody who'd like to try doing some cover art, please do so! Fightmasters can give you a password and explain how to submit...
Oh, yeah, and for whatever it's worth, almost every fight is "delayed" at least a few days while the FMs sort through the entries, pick cover art, etc. etc. A lot of the background stuff depends on some manual page updates, and since FMs do have lives, sometimes it takes a few days to get the new songs posted, even if everything is in place. They may even be hoping that one or two people post reviews on the previous set of songs before posting the new ones.

Glad to hear you're home KA! Once I get this new computer going and have more to work with than MSPaint I plan on taking on some art... Haven't tried my hand at that yet.
