So, you've ruled out that your electric circuit in your house isn't picking up radio frequencies? Or are you going to keep slapping band-aids on it and not address the real problem?

3.) To connect it adequately, I'll need a Y-cable, or else perpetually miss half of the audio.

I'm concerned, because not only does this look inelegant, it's also going to flatten my audio. Even when I get two channels of audio, they're both feeding to the single stereo input on my subwoofer, so the signals will mix and come out in mono anyway.

And then... If I do all this, will it fix the A/C crackle problem?

It's starting to sound like I need a better set of studio monitors.
Sorry, I didn't know what I was starting!

Yes, you'd need a Y cable. The left and right channels come out of the two 1/4 jacks on the Lambda and go to the tip and the first ring on the 1/8 stereo jack, from whence they are routed to the left and right speakers through the magic of whatever wiring is in your subwoofer -- I guess. I've never worked with a set of speakers that has a subwoofer, so I don't know how you're supposed to hook them up.

Really, your headphone output is not that bad, as long as you don't turn up the headphone monitor control too loud. If you see a Y cable like the one we're talking about, grab it! -- otherwise, don't sweat it. It's only for monitoring, your recording quality is unaffected.

I doubt it will fix the crackle. However, if the crackle is coming in through your USB cable and the Lambda is amplifying it, then it might be quieter if you use the Line Outs instead of the Headphone Out.

Actually, I think all the suggestions here are more focused on problem #2 (and rightly so, because that's the more annoying and the more frightening of the two problems). It's going to be a little involved for me to make sure the electric circuit isn't picking up radio frequencies, but that will only provide insight into problem #1.

Unless you're trying to tell me they're related.

I'm bored. My audio interface was picking up radio the other day as well. I think I will buy a power conditioner with my $30 coupon to Guitar Center.

Just found out something interesting. The leg of my circuit breaker leading to my air-conditioning has somehow become fused to the rail. I'm guessing this might be partially responsible for the interference. We're having an electrician come in to take a look at it. I'll let you guys know if the problem diminishes.

That's not annoying; that's dangerous. Glad you brought in the electrician.

I didn't really have much to do with it; we rent this place, so my superintendent is supposed to be handling getting the experts over here and paying them.
Problem is, he said there would be an electrician here yesterday, and no such thing happened.

I'm reasonably sure he's not a church-going guy, so I'm going to give him a call shortly.

The worst part about this is that my air conditioner is also non-functional, and has been since 3am Friday morning. We're dying over here.

From what you said about your A/C circuit breaker, there is a problem with the A/C pump or fan motor. A/C units use these heavy fuses that look like a shotgun shell. One for each leg. So if your breaker fused to the power rail, someone installed too large of a fuse and or breaker. Which tells me the A/C has been blowing fuses in the past due to a bad A/C unit. When idiots do this, it overloads the wires and could cause a fire if the fuse doesn't blow.

The more I think about this, the more it upsets me. My wife and I will be moving soon.

Those radio transmission you were receiving were trying to warn you that you are in grave danger.
Think about it. Mariachi music, commercials....baseball broadcasts! All of these things are how aliens and spirits have been communicating with earth dwellers for centuries. Google it!
If you would have just stopped looking at porn for 2 seconds and wrote down the faint words that stood out, then looked up the Spanish words with an online Spanish to English translator, you would have gotten "their" message. It would have been something like, 'jo nair, you are in grave danger. Turn off the A/C breaker. It's going to burn the hizzy down. And if you don't stop fapping so much, you'll go blind and grow hair on your palms."

...yes, spirits call houses hizzies. They like to be PC, but are always a little behind the times. Google it!

They brought in an electrician to fix the circuit breaker, and ever since then there's been no interference between the A/C and the computer speakers.

The radio signal still kicks in around 9pm each night.

We're looking into new living arrangements.

I don't think that's worth moving over, Jon. That's like selling your car because you got a flat tire. Fix it or get it fixed, get drunk, smile, have a piece of pie, charm your way into a bj, etc. Life is too short to pet the sweaty things.

That's less "selling a car because of a flat tire" and more "selling a car because it keeps getting flat tires because it turns out that the person you bought it from replaced one of the wheels with a bunch of random metal they found lying around and if you ever go on the highway your car will probably flip over and kill you."

Chris, it's more of a trust issue. They let me live here for two years thinking it was safe, when it fact the wiring was dangerously poor. What other hazards do I not even know to ask about?

Then you better get a professional home inspection at your next place. Because it "might" also be an unsafe dwelling. ;)
