Ok, that's just cruel. Who steals a rock? So the drums and cymbals are still there... that's good.. and the toasters...
Jack and I think it's someone who lives near the studio... I don't know how pawn shops work around there, but up here they'll take down the particulars of the person who is trying to sell it, then give them a lean of 20 bucks or so... and if you pay the 20 bucks you get the gear back PLUS the name and address... I don't know if they'd do that in such a large city like Seattle, but up here they do... it's worth a shot , especially since you probably have (or people here do at least) photos of the more priceless gear... and if you got the time to hit each shop and suss it out...who knows..you might get the stuff back, or some, and with people watching ebay too...
Most importantly, if some one DID go to apawn shop, and they DID get the name and address, you could protect yourself a little more by knowing who it is... which is the most violating thing about a break-in...the unknown perp.... anyway... best of luck still man!

I reckon that a good date for 'Octofest' would be Saturday March 26th. Or the Saturday after. What think the bands so far involved?
I have worked up a cute interface where you click on various areas of a virtual Festival Site Map to access the various songs (main stage / merchandise tent / toilets &c) - so once again, if you want to be involved, please just let me know here and I will add you to the 'running order'...
It can be a new song, an octothorpe cover, a remix of one of your old songs, a little snippet, whatever. Let's make it fun and good and you never know, such good karma may result in the retrieval of the missing goods in question
If you can't host yrself, then let me know. We'll sort something out.

I've already begun work on an x-t-r-g song, called "Vigilantes".
subtitled "that son of a bitch that robbed Octothorpe must pay"

I feel your pain, Spud... At least there's karma: some jackass has a fork in the eye coming his way.
J$, I'd love to help out too. If nothing else, I've got some bandwidth to spare for those in need.
Also, no # thongs on Cafe Press? Won't somebody please think of the groupies...

Wow, that really sucks. I'll help if there's any way I can.
As far as a standard guitar for the studio, seems like you can't go wrong with a simple strat, maybe with the champ amp? Not too expensive.

Hey Johnny!
The Saturday after the 26th, (so the 2nd April) would work better for me, but I'll do what I can for whatever the date ends up being.

I have been meaning to do an Octothorpe cover for a while now, so I would like to be part of whatever this is.

Fantastic we'll make it the 2nd April then.
JB thank you for your kind offer of hosting - I may well take you up on that. It would be better if people hosted their own stuff, though? i'm not really up on that side of netiquette
15-16 Puzzle, it's a show of love for # that is basically a bunch of songs written for or by octothorpe in their hour of 'need' - I just thought it would be cool and keeping in the Octothorpe spirit if we made it a 'virtual festival' that people can trawl around, visiting various tents ('pages with links to songs and stuff on them') and much more fun. It will have a limited time to it as well (in that I'll take the page down after, say, a week) so it's an special event, more than just a cover tribute ....
In a few days, I will pm everyone who has expressed interest, reminding them of the dates and stuff, and also with a link to a 'beta' site so they can have a trawl round and see what i had in mind, make suggestions &c.
Everything will be used (within reason!) Pictures will appear on a page that's like one of those photo-walls at festivals for getting in touch with friends you lost outside the mushroom tent...
I have a vision, and it is Octo-Fest '05!

Spud,
Dude like everyone here I am so sorry to hear of the losses. Tho I am also so gald that you were insured, Ill bet the octosound is gonna come back crisper and cleaner than ever, I know it dont seem it now but it may be a good thing in the long run, a chance to upgrade old equpment without the emotional ties begging you to hang onto that particular piece because.... or reluctance to buy a new... beacuse the old one is still fine. I dont know but try not to think of the negative but concentrate on the positives of the sit. Im sure that itll all work out for the best --- chin up n all that ( i mean at least you aint wasted money buying insurance without never having to use it, I know I know that aint that positive but it is somthing)
J$ - Count me in on anything you like, Im up for ir just let me know what you need -- tho I confess to having no bandwidth, not even a website, Im so green on that kind of issue you wouldnt believe i can use a comp. But anything musical(ornotso!!) just drop me a msg

Me$$iah, great to have you on board - just do whatever you like (song/art whatever) - doesn't have to be an octothorpe song, just something exclusive - no cover versions other than # songs might be an idea, but really, whatever. And I can certainly host a song for you on my website, or jb has very kindly offered to host it all so we shall see what form the response takes and take it from there. I'll pm you in a few day's time.
I'm really pleased at the response. We have acts for an 'electronica tent' and the 'rock tent' already. If anybody wants to do some spoken word, it would be cute to have a 'Stubs Quiet Zone'

I'm gonna be away that week on spring break, so no recording stuff. But I can write a poem, and make it all purdy and collagey, and put it online, and it can be part of a 'quiet zone'. If that's okay, anyway.

Bjam that would be great! If you mail it/pm it to me when you're done, I'll make sure that it's typset all pretty and fits in with the style of the site. That's great! Yay!

i'd like to be in this... i don't know if i could do an octothorpe song any justice... no way that i could sound anyway similar... but i wouldn't mind puttin' somethin' together for it...
i hate that all that happened to ya... :-\

Poor June. Better if you don't sound much like us. We already know what THAT sounds like. It would be more fun to hear what YOU sound like doing our stuff.
On the other hand, hard as we might try not to, we always end up sounding like us. Can't be that hard.

Poor June, great to have you on board! Maybe an acoustic/folk stage too?
So the following people are in, at least in principle ... there's still time to join the line-up, folks - just let me know ...
Niveous (X-T-R-G), Tonetripper, Glenn Case, the Hip Cola, Primitive Screwheads, Deshead (possible host), JB (possible host), Leaf, 15-16 Puzzle, Me$$iah, Bjam, Bortwein, Poor June and Johnny Cashpoint. Plus some great pics from Jack Shite and Leaf for the picture wall
Octofest - 2nd April 2005. Yay!
