And fits in nicely with Spud's choice - because Klaatu were actually the Beatles.BBABM wrote:i think that is going to have to be mine. i just googled it, and it may be the best song ive ever heard. not to mention the epic video! dibs.Caravan Ray wrote: I am hoping that someone will do a cover of the Carpenter's cover of Klatuu's "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft"

Re: Carpenters Coverfight?
I was just reading about klaatu. What bunch of oddballs. It's weird that today they would probably be making techno, or black metal or something... And yet, in the 70's, super trippy folk rock about aliens was where it was at. I think the carpenters only covered the song because of that viral rumor that they were the Beatles. Pretty cool little tidbit of music history. Glad to be covering the song, I have a feeling it's going to sound nothing like it.

Klaatu were actually only 3 of the Beatles. Paul McCartney was of course dead before they came about.

Re: Carpenters Coverfight?
Due by November 30? Hell, I'm in.
Time to start researching. I know the name "Carpenters," but no song jumps to mind. I'm sure 5 minutes of YouTube will have me head-slapping and going "oh! THOSE Carpenters!"
That, or the peanut gallery could suggest something you'd like to hear me cover/butcher/transmogrify.

To roll up my sleeves and stretch my vocal chords : I'll take "(I'm Caught between) Goodbye & I Love You."
At least I have an idea for what direction I'll take it.
