I was thinking about learning "Gravel" by her... This would be fun too
I covered 'Fuel' once at a gig. It was a real...experience. Fun.

Ok, I spent way, way too long on picking my songs. I had a page with 50 nominees written all over it. My final criterion was asking myself "if this were the song my person chose to cover, would I be as excited to hear it as if I were opening a Christmas present?" For the four little masterpieces here, the answer is a resounding YES!!!
I also tried to put enough variety in there so there would be something suitable no matter who got the list.
She's My Baby - The Mojo Men
Little Lighthouse - Dukes of Stratosphear (XTC)
Holiday Road - Lindsey Buckingham
Done - Allie Choco unpublished, I have it posted here: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=d5cd9956 ... D605%21662#
When do we get our assignments? Can't wait!

Here are my picks. I'm too new a user to be allowed to post links, but they are easily searchable on YouTube. I picked songs that I'd always thought of covering live.
Pixies - Monkey Gone To Heaven
Cyndi Lauper - Money Changes Everything
Faith No More - Epic
Spinal Tap - Big Bottom
'Song to the Siren' (most coverable song of his on a fantastic entire-album..I have other album favorites!)
Tim Buckley from Star Singer http://youtu.be/2pxvXI1i9cw
"Never Let Her Slip Away"
Andrew Gold from All This and Heaven Too (other recordings since then) http://youtu.be/DNCx7LDv7Ng

Hey there everyone.
I figure everyone has about ten more days to sign up and pick songs. As for a due date for everything, that's up in the air... gotta talk to Eddiebangs. But it's always early january. Probably something hokie like 1/2/12 or 1/12/12 because I'm cheesy like that.

I'm gonna raise the topic of last years stiffees. I was sad to see my buddy Tomski get left behind so I've taken the liberty giving their stiffer a proverbial glove slap by taking on this beast.
Hope ya'll enjoy, it's a pretty straight cover, but my god that song takes some deconstructing.
I did consider posting this in the GOM 8 thread but that is so last year.

Glad that slap wasn't for my face! Good job, considering the song. Picks in a day or two, I will not recieve a slap. For stiffing, anyway.

I haven't decided on my 4 songs yet. I'm thinking about following a theme. Like famous songs from famous scenes in 1970s porn. Scenes with big mustaches and even bigger bushes. But they seldom have lyrics. So I will probably go with a more traditional theme, like famous songs from famous scenes in Alfred Hitchcock movies. *bow chicka bow bow*

Although we can't say we have a record as illustrious as Albatross's 3 out of 4, the stiffee title still won't keep the Boffo Yux Dudes from joining yet again.
So ignore the double negative. We're in. Songs to follow once I use the crowbar on Al.

I think you chose this once before. Which is where I first heard it. Wonderful song.

Wow, what a great song I've never heard before! Where do I get that mic stand? The best part is where she makes that "drag your fingers across your lips while making a B sound" sound, I literally lost it. I'm probably going to cover this even when I don't get you as my giftee... Not an excuse for someone to stiff.

Almost by accident, I have a Canadian angle to my list:
#1: Willow Tree by Chad VanGaalen
#2: Like The Ocean, Like The Innocent by The Besnard Lakes
I am intreagued by this band... Dual bass, no guitar eh? Interesting.

I have indeed and it is, indeed. My "theme" this time out was "rejects" - songs from my previous lists that didn't get picked first time round. That said, I am not sure whether I did add Young Knives to a previous picklist or just considered them.
Anyhoo, there's a cute duelling ukuleles version of "OM" too -
