That didn't take long. The best song of all time right now got passed back to Dillinger Escape Plan's "Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants."

Saw the Hidden Cameras at the New Marquee Club last night. Great band, shite venue. Their new album made a lot more sense once I'd heard it in a live environment.

Favourite 'heckle' of the night - 'Do more songs about piss!'

how is their new cd? their ep with mike patton was really disappointing to me after the perfection of 'calculating infinity', so i'm very wary of the new album.

Well, it's different, that's for sure.

I agree that "Calculating Infinity" was a rip-snorter, but this new record adds a couple new dimensions to their already diverse bag of tricks. There are some real hooks in a couple songs, but it's still totally monstrous and meanacing. The new vocalist has a BIG impact on the sound. I heartily recommend this record, man.

And, yeah, Mike Patton has a way of making everything kind of sound the same & like him. I dug that ep, but the 4th track seemed totally throwaway. I'm a sucker for "Cheeng-ah!" though. I guess it just sounds an awful lot like Fantomas, now that they kind of don't anymore.

At any rate, Miss Machine is a great record, and it burns my job down every day.

cool. i might have to check it out now. i agree with your comment about mike patton. the main reason i don't like 'irony is a dead scene' (except for the badass aphex twin cover) is that i already have mr. bungle's cds.

Yeah, XTC is amazing. The entire Skylarking never ceases to amaze me.

Currently owning my peenorz would have to be.....

"Singring and the Glass Guitar(An Electrified Fairytale)"-Todd Rundgren's Utopia

My friend sent this 20 minute song to me and said it was probably where Tenacious D got the idea to do Wonderboy. Anyways, this song is great!
Cool Keyboards in it, and pretty entertaining vocals and lyrics.

"over the rainbow/what a wonderful world" by israel kamakawiwo'ole off of the finding forrester soundtrack. this song is amazing. it's just vocals and ukelele. it is in my opinion, the definitive version of both of these songs. you could have the worst day in the world and suddenly be put into a great mood by it. if you haven't heard it, i highly recommend it.

Fear Factory did that song, too. It's on their album, Obsolete, along with the cover of "Cars". I found the mp3 of it and they stuck with the original pretty well (assuming Wiseblood's is the original?). FF's vocals sound a little less silly for the style, but I still like the original. I'm not really a huge fan of Fear Factory...I like some of their stuff, but some of it reminds me of Anthrax, which isn't necessarily a good thing. Their Terminator-themed work was kinda good.

I seem to have been listening to Just Like Honey by The Jesus & Mary Chain on a constant loop for about 3 weeks now. I like that song.

Oh, and Marcus - what is your avatar a picture of?
