My roommate is anorexic and recently showed me photos of herself from three years ago, weighing 60 pounds. It was like looking at a fresh corpse. You could see everything through her skin. I haven't stopped thinking about the image and was going to use that as fuel for "We Are All Made Of Strings," but I can only seem to get out four lines and no music. I would be honored if anyone took this and ran with it.
How did you stand on shoestring legs?
Held together with tight knots under latex skin.
Thick yarn veins larger than the arms.
We are all made of strings, but you're not supposed to see them.

I was just kidding with my first comment, but I think that string (no s) is more used as like an ingredient.. like, saying this scarf is made of string is like saying this cow is made of muscle. I don't know that I'd call either "plural" per se. And I'm listening to music that isn't allowing me to think, so maybe there are other examples I am missing that are contrary to this.

Is that a fight where we make tributes to the dude from Frasier? That would be even scarier than grammarfight.

I will be dodging the grammarfight this week and finishing up songs for <a href="
http://songfight.net/forums/viewtopic.p ... erFight</a> due Monday.
tviyh is right in that "string" is the measurable plural and "strings" is the countable plural. As long as the definition you use can answer the question "how many strings are you made of?" you will be grammatically accurate.

(although it would be MORE accurate to answer the question "of how many strings are you made?")

Actually, while grammatically more accurate, it's still clunky English; I would avoid the sentence altogether .... hahahahahaha!

being ukian, you'd probably mumble something incomprehensible like "wot's yer stringers?" and then expect everyone who speaks american to guess at a possible answer.
we're wise to your tricks.

Yes, and when you didn't understand, blame it on your corruption of our beautiful language :p Damn I am so transparent!

Remember, anorexia is a lifestyle choice. NOT a disease. Its perfectly sane to starve yourself.
Regardless, Neil Thrun and the Doom Fairies have produced a song for ancient.

Hi. Long time reader, first time poster.
I realized (too late) that "Oh Britney" rhymes with "Hit me" and "Not a girl, not yet a woman" rhymes with "Oops, she's going to sing it again." Sort of.
Not great, I know, but yours if you want it.

Not that I'm submitting anything this week, but this thread brought up the notion of string/s and strand/s of string/s. And if you think about it, we truly ARE made of of string/s in the form of strand/s of DNA. Hmmmmm.

okok am i the ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD whose first impulse upon reading that title was not to think of THAT britney?

I have a feeling 'Ancient' will be the big one this week; if so I will be making it one bigger, if you see what I mean. I tried to recreate the mood of my popular vote-winner that was my cover of Octothorpe's 'on my block' only it went somewhere very different ... you shall see

I'll be submitting an "Ancient" as well (but perhaps not as good).

Well, I've gone and made a First Time Ever submission to We Are All Made of Strings.
My humiliation across the Internet may now commence!

I didn't think of her at first either.
For some reason, the title made me thing of a Mooney Suzuki song called 'Oh Sweet Susanna'
