copyright is an issue if you want to be on the CD. everything has to be free and clear.

(this means as much as I'd like to, i can't use jack's song, because it cribs the melody from "The Lion Sleeps Tonight")
understandable. i'll see if i can come up with something a little more original for this.

Hey JB,

I gladly offer up the Mosswoodian's What We Need More of is Science. Perhaps Loyalty Day's Chainsaw would also be appropriate.

Be well,
Ken

Karl's Mom & the Delicate Flowers' never-before-heard "Between the Rain" (we didn't finish it till after the due date) would be pretty good for this, I think. But I don't have anywhere to host it. Can I just email it to you, JB?

You might like to audition these three songs from High Density's AAD and decide if one of them is appropriate:

<a href="http://www.moboid.com/hd_4th/alligators.mp3">Alligator Food</a>
<a href="http://www.moboid.com/hd_4th/mammals.mp3">Mammals</a>

I'm not sure about this..but just in case...

mosswoodians' 'cancer' is a great tune ... and is on topic.

mine on the other hand...

Anyways, Mosswoodians' cancer might be a little scary in a way ...I mean to children....but maybe not... just some of the lyrical content might be a little too 'matter of fact' ...however, a could be a good song for sick children.

How about HiD's "Space Cadet"?

Hey Chris,

I thought the same thing. It is fine with me if you want to use it. It might be a fun song to re-record as well. It does a have a positive ending.

ok. so i'm working on a new idea for this. it's tentatively called "Just Say Booger!" and it's a song about a word that kids can use instead of saying something really bad, like the F word.

what would be really cool for my idea is that i need a whole bunch of people that i can mix in shouting out "just say booger!". then i could mix all the tracks together as one big response vocal sort of thing.

if anyone would be so kind as to donate me a booger or 2 to use, IM me a link to the vox only track and i'll use it (mp3). thanks in advance!

or you can email it to jack@spewgrass.com

I'll do that for you. Are you recording to a rough bpm or do you just want random shoutin'?

jack, tomorrow i will be going back to the house where we recorded the "banananana revolution" songskirmish song... if you'd like, i could probably work up a recording of the "monkettes" chorus (aka a pair of five-year-old girls) shouting "just say booger" for you...

the more the merrier. a chorus of monkettes would be wonderful. a chorus of mad dog and spud would also be wonderful.

but i'd love to have your inimitable vox j$. might even give you a solo!

J$, as far as bpm, don't sweat it. just imagine it as a response vocal thing to a line like "when it's time to go to bed...." "just say booger!" "give your grandma some sugar" "just say booger!". you get the idea i think....the chorus will be like a laundry list of boogers....

but i'd love to have your inimitable vox j$. might even give you a solo!

you do one first

Otherwise everyone will say it different...and off time... it's a good idea..but if you don't give us a template one..you won't get the results you desire.

record one...post it

ok. here's a mix you can use as a click track. this is the unmastered version but this is what would work best to synch to.

http://www.jackshite.com/music/justsaybooger.mp3

i'd love to get more boogers from people. if you feel so inclined, email or IM me links to full length mp3s. JB's deadline is 10/18 so anything i get by 10/15, i'll use it. in some form. maybe not all but if you send me something, i'll use something in it.

and i must also add that chris hoblit is brilliant. thanks man.

Yeah, that'd be fine too. I redid the backing track for SFL, so Moboid will have to redo the vocal for your CD. I'll let you know when we've finished that up.

Hmmm, in order to spark some discussion (if anyone wants some, of course) - I've finished the music for this, but I'm finding it really hard to pitch the lyric right.

My niece and nephew are 2 & 1 respectively, so words that sound cool maybe have more impact than a story (I say this as a man who has next to no contact with kids, so I may be making myself look dumb. Feel free to point this out to me.)

So should I try and write something like that, a nonsense kind of thing, or would that be patronizing? Ack, i guess there's no real answer to that, I just wanted to say that it's coming along OK, and I was wodnering whether anyone else was having this problem ...

John Lennon was king of the nonsense lyric. I think you can split the difference and use words that sound good, but don't really make sense together.

Goo goo ga joob!

We are working on ours as well, starting with the lyrics, per usual. Hope to have it done in time.
