Ensure that you have the CD that came with your wireless USB network card or whatever. Failing that look at the thing what connects you, find the product number, go to the manufacturer's website, go to Support or Driver Downloads or whatever, and download them and save them somewhere.erikb wrote:I have a wireless USB connection, the main modem thing of which is attached to my roommate's computer.fluffy wrote:What do you use to get online?erikb wrote:What do I need to do to make sure I have the driver for my internet access?

Hm, I can't tell if you're joking. If you're seriously asking me if I was aiming that at you, then no, I wasn't. Many PC users I know have had to go through that same process, even before widespread Internet use made it all much worse. If you were joking, then yes, I was aiming it at you. Your PC is made of poop that smells very very bad.ken wrote:I'm sorry, was this aimed at me?Lunkhead wrote:Things "just work" way more often with Macs, though. For example, you will not have to erase your hard drive and reinstall your operating system every 6 months or year because of adware/spyware/viruses/trojans/worms/registry corruption/etc.

Anyway, to stay on topic, you could also try backing up your data to your roommate's PC (if he has spare hard drive space) over the wireless network.
