Actually stueym, I think your point is right. One of the judges commented a ways back that the band you start with is the band that has to go the distance, which pretty-well answers my question.

Hmm, so I'll either have to do an instrumental, or start getting the rest of you sick.

Say a fighter gets a cold and loses his voice. For the sake of example, let's say this fighter is me. Could I have someone else sing a song that I wrote and recorded? But then (assuming I wasn't eliminated) go back to singing myself for the next round?
If the judges were okay with a substitute due to sickness, I volunteer to sing for your first entry, if you are not well by the due date.

Maybe it can be treated as a mulligan of sorts. Every artist is allowed one sick entry, where a substitute vocalist may be used.

It's up to the judges, but I personally have no problem with that idea.

ROCK!

I think it's up to Niveous since he's running the show, but I'd think, like Des said, that you'd just have to suck it up and perform sick (or do an instrumental). If you give a mouse a cookie, and whatnot. I mean, what if someone gets kidnapped--what then??

a sick deshead entry will still kick most of your collective asses imho.

des, i think you're safe for the first couple rounds at least in my book.

If you take a note from my book when the eagles fight was due I developed the head cold from hell and sounded out of tune and generally like sh*t (well more than usual [/self-deprecation]). Then came mister vocoder to the rescue to create this. Ignore the hot mix but it allowed me to enter something that was at least listenable to even if you don't like the song style or extremely hot mix :-)

The other alternative is the raspy Tom Waits stylee or whisper lyrics very well mixed....lots of options further testing the creativity of the artist.

Like jack said I would fear you even with a permanent laryngectomy Des...you'd hum cadences and still kick our asses....get your groove thing going and let us hear you bring it! :D

Thanks guys :D And Glenn and KMS, I really appreciate your offers. (And of course, stueym's right again. It's a challenge, not an obstacle!)

So when DO we start?

The website is currently being worked on. Once it's up and running, we can start. So this week will be the official start. Can all the judges please contact me with some contact info? (IM, that sort of thing).

Notification

I don't always seemed to notified of forum postings, even on those that I am "watching." Will participants be PM-ed or anything when the titles, deadlines, and trivia challenges are announced, or should I just be checking often?

Thanks

I'll send you that stuff this afternoon... after practice.

Cause I like to practice.

...maybe I should go do that then.

SO. photo. song. ...this song, it can be a songfight one right? Or can it be something different? Cause I got one from a few years ago that's fun and all...wouldn't mind linking that one.. think I will...be back in a bit..with a few links for Niv. not that anyone else will notice. cause I won't send it to you.

i think the picture and song request has to do with creating a small profile of each participant on the webpage, the song as an example of their past work.

i could be wrong so don't quote me on that.

Maybe its another step towards Niv's eventual assimilation of every songfighter?
