Couple of random thoughts. If we can get in earlier than six, that would be a nice thing. We don't have to set up the PA, so an hour should be enough time, but it's a little tight. Maybe I'm just anal but it's a good feeling to know that everything is ready to go ahead of time.
Can we leave gear overnight on Friday? That's not necessary either but it's way way easier.
i doubt we can get in earlier than 6. i think that's what time our sound guy shows up, but i'll ask. maybe one of my contacts can let us in to unload but i'm not optimistic. i'd be willing to bet this is the first time 15 bands played in one night here, so i doubt they'll be overly accomodating considering the sound guys gotta pay attention all night long.
leaving gear is not an option, but leaving gear at my house is, so blue, you could leave your kit at my house and i can bring it over the next day if you want.
the piano is a no go. it's apparently not in tune and has some sort of problems with it, so it's not available for use. sorry i got your hopes up. i will bring my K1, which has a decent sounding piano patch (as well as many others). but no acoustic piano.
Dangit, I was relying on the piano. A real one, or at least a keyboard with decent weighted keys. Blah.
Guess I'll have to think of something else other than 120MPH or something.
haha...i like the way you toned down your original reply
i mentioned plat mostly as he's asked me the most, going so far as to call the cayuga vault from wisconsin, fanatical even if he is mostly harmless.....
sorry fluff. it's too bad. it looks like a nice grand piano too. oh well.
This is what I get for trying not to seem obsessive and complainy for once. ;)
If there's someone bringing a keyboard with weighted keys that'd be fine. It's just that 120MPH really needs it, or at least I need it when playing that song, just to keep my fingers from tripping on each other. Classical piano style-yo, fo shizzle.
Bizarre dream last night. I'm sitting down in a bar with my friends and a guy gets up on the stage (ok apparently there's a stage in this bar). He starts singing:
"Corali ali ali aline is afraid of wolves..."
In the dream I'm thinking it sounds familiar, and it distracts me from my conversation. Eventually I get a glimpse of the guy on stage (the place was really crowded and I was sitting), and its prayformojo!
The rest of the dream is me trying to make it to the stage to say hello and see if any other songfighters are around, but the place is so crowded that I never make it there (I also suspect that my mind was unfairly inscreasing the length of the bar in a way that made the task impossible).
Anyway my subconscious seems to want me to tell you guys to have fun in Santa Cruz and that you will be missed.

I wish you could be there, brutha. You are, after all, the king of the SoCal Live Fight scene.
...and I don't find it even remotely creepy that you dream of me.
Just checking to see if anyone has arranged for a few music stands for the performances. I'm guessing that a lot of the backing band members (if not the main performers) will need / want to use chord charts or something, and "music stands" is something the venue may not own any of...

Well, its late Wednesday night and I better go to bed. I have not many hours sleep before I have to get up at an ungodly hour and head out to BNE.
Then it's roughly 24 hours of sitting in a comfy chair while having free alcohol brought to me by a homosexual in a tight waistcoat. Life really doesn't get any better than that.
I am well prepared for my journey - having trolled both ends of the cultural spectrum. For the written word, Mr Tolstoy's "War and Peace" should provide sufficient bulk for the trip. Where that becomes tiring - I can also resort to the CD version of "Kiss and Tell - The Autobiography of Gene Simmons", as read by Gene himself.
I shall retire now and see some of you on (your) Thursday evening

Cheers!
This may be the best pairing of airplane books ever.
Having only read Kiss and Tell, it is probably the more enjoyable of the two.

I just talked to Glenn Case on the phone and when I said, "See you tomorrow" I got a little choked up. I'm excited to see everyone again. For many of you it has been too long.

Greetings from sunny(?) Auckland! WTF am I doing in freaking New Zealand? I'm a long way from Brisbane - but not really any closer to Santa Cruz.
Still- I'mbloody impressed withthe onboard entertainment Qantas has nowdays. Huge range of movies and tv shows to watch on demand - and games! I just saw 'Chinatown' between Melbourne and Aoteaoroa
...anyway...better go - some bloke who looks like Jonah Lomu wants to pat me down and check my body for fluids
