Uh, not sure! First Mate Glenn, what do you think? How do the winds be blowin'? 160 knots NNW? 256?
(If the reason for a limitation is server space or download bandwidth, then heck, bring it on. I've got plenty enough of both.)
I would highly recommend that songs be in mp3 format. VBR or CBR would just be a matter of your own personal preference.
While I don't see the need for a kbps limit, I think the unspoken general guideline for downloadble music is to not make it a higher bitrate than it needs to be. If it sounds great at 128kbps, why make it bigger?
If you want to make the file gigantic, go ahead. It's your bandwidth. You might have less people listening to your song if it's a huge file, but it's up to you.
That's my 2 cents, anyway. I am hoping that Rach and I can pull off our song tonight. It has like 20 chords, so it will be challenging.
ROCK!

I have pulled off all but one of my covers on time for tomorrow. The Glenn and Rachael one was completely learned and recorded tonight, and it turned out fairly good anyway.
Christopher Case's "Sailing" is likely to be slightly delayed.

Excellent assumption of duties, mate.
It will give me time to uh.... prevent a mutiny (aka finish my song).
I'm below deck if you need anything.

Seamus and Evil E, NICE SOUND!!! Very nice!
Rinkydink, diggin the mellow vibe. Way cooler than the Foo version, if I may be so bold. Nice n short and to the point.
Starfinger, you should do this with a powder blue tuxedo with the tie untied and just hanging open...with a glass of scotch in you hand. "How's everyone doing tonight? Don't forget to tip your waitress! If you're driving, don't drink...if you're drinkin, don't drive!"
(all I got time for tonight but I'm really looking forward to the rest! Good fight you smooooooth hipsters!)

That's right, I'm an HOUR late for my own scurvy deadline.
I have some engineering problems and my engineer is asleep... hopefully tomorrow he can help me figure out why I'm getting distortion in my mix when I export the file. Until then, I give you...

Nice. I'm loving the interpritations of these songs. And it's not because I'm drunk... if I were sober I'd still dig it. I'm pretty sure.

For what it's worth, I hate some of my vocals on a couple of the entries I am part of. After listening to them multiple times today, I hear a lot of sour spots. And the opening solo on "Right Down the Line" has a HIDEOUS couple of notes.
Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying how they turned out overall, but I am absolutely hearing the mistakes.
I am going to listen to the other entries tomorrow. For now? I just got home from a gig with my second band a little while ago, and I am now sleepy.
For what it's worth, I have been getting in touch with some of the people involved with the creation of the Yacht Rock series. Research lead me to their true Myspace profiles, and thus far I've gotten some positive responses from the actors who played John Oates, Messina, and the actress who played Sara in episode 2.
ROCK!

Ok, i fixed the clipping on my song. And ok, i adjusted the mix a teensy bit. Recommended redownload, for a more pleasant listening experience. Same location/link/etc.
Looking forward to hearing the rest! Tack those babies into port. Hurry, before I run out of sailing metaphors!

I just want to butt in to say that these songs are well done and enjoyable. Reading the titles, I didn't think that I knew as many of these songs as I do, which is all of them! Good job peoples, and thanks for sharing.

I have been schooled in yacht rock now thanks to you all.
It isn't even fair to list the songs in order of preference I enjoyed them all.
the last song I've heard thus far is the Nirvana one which.. at first I was like "why is this song here"
and then when I heard it, I laughed... and kept laughing.. now THAT is some out of the box thinking.
and then.. I heard "no I don't have a gun" (not the end outtakes) and lost it.
I am anxiously awaiting the remaining songs.
