Cheap vodka smells like rubbing alcohol, and tastes like I imagine rubbing alcohol to taste.

Er... I shouldn't have typed anything here 'cause I'm not fdrinked right now. A G & T sounds tasty right about now! Happy spring drink!

Absolut, or Greygoose are always going to be better because of their filtration process. Generally the rule with Vodka (as with most alcohols) the more expensive, the more filtration, the easier it is on you as a human. I.E. less of a hangover.

This is not fool proof by any means. (pardon the pun)

Since I have cut back on drinking, I have afforded better alcohol. This means I'm less hungover less of the time.
I love that Roth Vodka ad I posted:
On the nose, aromas of slate and mineral spirit, coupled with a delicate, background note of fresh fruit, combine with a unique, “wet stone” aroma that gives the impression of Arctic cold. The palate is silky and round, with a delicate finish. No alcohol burn or bitter aftertastes
Aroma of wet stone and slate??? I must have missed that, because the Roth I was drinking smelled more like gravel and sidewalks after a spring rain.

By the way, the other grape vodka I've had, Idol Vodka, says it's distilled seven times and made from hand-picked lots of noble Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from Burgundy, France. That must be why it was so expensive. The Roth Vodka is from Cali and was still $32 a bottle.

A Magic Hat IPA, and then some ridiculous Miller thing with lime flavor in it. Any port in a storm, I guess.

holey poo. I went out to karaoke last night, and was drinking triple rum & cokes in ponys. They were pretty heavy on the rum. I vaguely remember thinking I rocked. Woke up this morning, and I'm not even hung over yet. Getting up the stairs to pee was a journey and a half. Oddly enough, when I'm too useless to do anything else, I turn to the SF forum.

Learn something new every day--

Today's lesson:

Never make a mixed drink just to 'relax' if you also feel like 'I need a drink cause people's crap is stressin me out'

NOT a good combination. This screwdriver tastes like... well.. vodka...

There is no down side, it gets you happy! You don't want anything to do with this stuff, Dewey!

Last weekend I played at the Seven Barrel Brewery. I brought home a growler of the RIP Stout and a growler of the Cream Ale. It's Black-And-Tan night tonight!

This is a placeholder for what may happen on the train home tonight. They serve Bass. They better have a few available. There's a ton of stress that needs dousing.

Mmm. When I got home from practice there was an open bottle of red table wine on the counter. I'm enjoying a glass right now.

Rum & coke here. In one of my brand new glasses. I'm funny about my drink glasses.
#1. I like cool looking glass. This one has blue glass on the bottom with clear glass with these circular concave indentations about the size of quarter in bands all the way up. Kind of retro. I saw them and it was love at first sight.
#2. I like thick glass. It must be heavy.
#3. It must perfectly hold 3/4 full of ice, one shot of rum, one full 12oz can of coke and one lime wedge if I so desire. If it can't do this, I'll have nothing to do with it. Take it away!

That's it.

What one? Tonight we had a bottle of Strozzi Chianti, which is cool since it came from San Gimignano, one of the towns we spent our honeymoon at in Italy. Nice wine, too, with pasta and home-mixed meat sauce.

Bully Hill - Love My Goat. An excellent red wine for getting down to the business of wine drinking.

Rockin'. Bully Hill is not that far from where I grew up such that we used to vacation in that area a lot growing up (camping). Of course they did not let underage kids sample the wines but I loved the tours and they gave us grape juice. Lots of good memories there and specifically for Bully Hill. Actually for our wedding reception the guy was able to get us Love My Goat, so that was the main red table wine :)

edit: don't accept shots from a friend sitting across the bar, when you normally just drink pints all night... you might make an ass of yourself. ;)
