I was going through some old music project files and saw that I had an unfinished song for the "Can't Take Our Love Away" fight. So I went to check out that fight in the archive. The C Hack entry is so awesome:
"Can't Take Our Love Away" by C Hack
And there's a Doctor Worm song, which I think is a pretty good song. There are some pitch issues with the vocals and I'm not so into the guitar tone, but still the song itself is really good:
"Can't Take Our Love Away" by Doctor Worm
The Forty Second Songs entry is a fun 80's retro song:
"Can't Take Our Love Away" by Forty Second Songs
I also like the song by The Idiot Kings, which also has an 80's kind of vibe to it:
"Can't Take Our Love Away" by The Idiot Kings
Hell, even Josh Woodward's song is pretty good, though I wish somebody else had won:

Lately, I have been taking part in the SpinTunes competition as a judge. And I realized that a lot of the musicians there have no clue who I am. So, I went over to bandcamp and put up a sampler of songs that I have penned, called
S.W.A.N. Songs (Some Words Attributed to Niveous). In doing so, I got very retrospective and I wanna thank the bands that I have gotten a chance to work. Everytime that I look back and think that someone out there in the world liked my words enough to make them into a song is amazing. I feel very grateful.

Ha, I forgot about "so weird". Great lyrics Niv, but I wish I knew then what I know know about mixing. Yikes. But I do like what I did instrumentally and that bridge is kind of cool.

I had so much fun working on "Don't Think I Don't Miss You." I remember Anti-M saying my guitar tone sounding like cicadas, which was the coolest compliment.

Hey!
Chris Voss was in that fight and he's one of my favorite quitters ever.

Ooh, thanks for the tip, that guy's stuff is pretty good. He has a bit of a Rivers Cuomo home tapes vibe going, crossed with a theatrical feel, at least in his "Can't Take Our Love Away". I wonder who that guy was?

I did some internet stalking back then - he had various other demos online at one point. He has an
album with a band, but it's not all that great (apparently he wasn't the songwriter on most of the tracks).

Oh, hey. Handclaps and Harmonies used to submit songs to the old version of SomeSongs all the time. Did anyone save any of those?

I've got all the somesongs.com data on somesongs.org, but all their songs are hidden. Neither of the domains they used in their links work anymore.

Speaking of awesome Song Fight quitters - just found additional The Hate Noise music. I've heard most of it and some of it isn't that exciting, but it has a remastered "Hard Landing", which is definitely worth the link.
