Not a bat expert - just someone who is regularly shat upon by low flying, flying foxes. Ahhh - the bigger picture is clearer - definitely not a flying fox face after all. Cool name though - "Big Brown Bat" - succinct and straight to the point. I like it.HeuristicsInc wrote:heh, a bat expert!

I need to acknowledge the potential awesomeness in Tex Beaumont & the Stinky Hearts' cover of my choice. Word on the street is it's dope. The bank. The grilled schnitzel. However, I don't yet reep the benefit of you're fine efforts, Ray and Paco, as I have yet to finish my gift for the next guy. When I do, I will and all will be well in the world. I am truly looking forward to it! Thanks.

looking to this weekend, too. that collaborative thing is what's done it. i still think it's kind of a dumb rule, and some people didn't even abide by it, it seems. i'm going to do the track with a friend of mine, but she's a busy bee, etc... this weekend, though, probably.

I'm finally in. I lost out on the collaboration thing unless you count all the help I got from the person who I did the song for without them realizing.

Niv's just had a couple of spots of bad luck. The initial collab plan fell short because I couldn't make the trip I was planning (but still want to do and very soon). So then I figured I'd do the song with my new band since it would be my first time working with them. No dice as the band got scattered to Arizona, Illinois and Germany over the last month. So then I figured, I'll go with using my kids. They've never Songfought. But then I got fed up with doing the song in French and I couldn't do any of the other 3 songs (because I couldn't obtain the Rodinka or WEG and I just couldn't do the momette Bossa Nova). So I convinced Luke & Egg to help me translate. Egg got me the translation first and that's where I realized that I would be singing a lot about being assholes and figured it was a bit too hardcore for the kinderlings. I was already late, and I wanted Egg to get his gift, so ta-da.
And for those who are wondering...Egg once told me that if I couldn't handle the French, I could cover the Inspector Gadget theme instead. Thus the ending of the song.

Hey, while I'm in the appreciative mood, lemme say that this was, yet again, a great collection of music for listening to. With the GOM, you always get some of the best stuff that comes out of Songfight!ville.
I think I want to vote for Man Overboard. Maybe Budapest by Blimp because the buda-buda-buda-buda-et-cetera vocal melody is so swell. But who knows, there's more to come! I doubt I'm in any great danger of winning the big cash money prize, which is a shame, because I'll have to pay for my own Arion compressor collection.
That's a cute thing to say, because I can't imagine anyone being stylistically non-different from Morphine. Or "than Morphine," maybe. I can't decide which preposition fits after "non-different," which probably ain't a real word anyway. But I digress-- y'all done made a great multicontinental interpretation of the song. Thanks!Caravan Rach wrote:"Our version a little different stylistically from the original, but we hope you like it anyway, Ben!"

hey albatross, i just want to say i'm diggin your version of "my sharona", as the bass, guitar, and drums are all pretty kickin. nice job to boltoph, but also your bass is kick ass as always!
but man, you need some screamy vocals over this. nothing against whoever is singing (i assume it's either you or pat) but i just wish it had a little more conviction over it. or maybe it's the mix, as it seems slightly buried and reverbed (a self concious decision maybe?).
great tune but i'm almost wishing for leaf's singing over this.

I have no idea what you are trying to say there, it makes no sense at all - but just wanted to add that I had never heard that song before and and never really had a lot of time for Morphine before - but I did think that song was particularly cool. Not really sure if the "do-wop" backing vocals I added were really appropriate - but I had fun doing it.bzl wrote:That's a cute thing to say, because I can't imagine anyone being stylistically non-different from Morphine. BTW: Awesome vocals Rachael! Shame I didn't have you to sing along with when I was doing mine - but Glenn did a good job putting it together anyway.
