Thanks niv, Did we settle on a Due Date?
The Due Date is 1/10/08

and although late entries will be posted, they will be flagged as NOT eligible to be considered for the prizes. That being said, Soul Tree Records is also going to sweeten the pot. $150 to the #1 song, $50 to the #2, and #3 gets a load of useless misc. promo crap.

Awesome. If I take #1 or 2, I'm donating it to our local public school. #3 will go to the Fred Thompson presidential election committee.

I'm really excited with my giftee's song list. They're all so good I'm going to have a hard time choosing which one to do.

I did not post links but my songs are all pretty easy to find. Is that a problem, my gift-giving secret friend? If so, send a note to Niveous and he can pass it along to me and I'll try to find links. Thanks.

My list is fun. I want to cover them all, but I'm hoping I can get one done in time...

This probably won't happen for me, but if we finish our cover early do we just send it in and not post it? What if we cover more than one of the songs on the list?

If you got MK, FBF, I'll be your wife for the duration of the song. Oh no, hang on, that doesn't sound right ... :)

I just got my list and it's got four f-ing awesome songs, three from bands I've never heard of that are now on the front of my radar. So I don't even care if I get my song, this is an awesome present already.
Working hard to suck less.

I just saw/heard this and it kicks ass. Nice one Jim!

Also, to whoever got Spud's list: If you decide to go with the Beastie Boys I want to offer my services for shouty parts.

I hadn't heard of any of the bands on the list I got, let alone the songs. But they're all fairly decent, and at least one should be fun to cover in my style, sans my previous restriction of <30 seconds per song.
Niveous wrote:LSK, you have entered one SF prior to your entry in the GoM. We are going to need to know that you are not gonna flake out on the GoM. If you're going to join this, you best not flake out.
I am aware of this - but I assure you, I've got a full band behind me this time, thanks to a friend's friend.

Maybe you post your list and hope someone decides to cover one as a free bonus?

I've just about finished one of my giftee's (is that the correct term?) songs, and although I'm obviously not going to reveal who he or she may be, I'd like to make an open plea to everyone involved in this GOM.
I'm fully aware that the program I use to create my 'Cynthia' vocals has a few fans (for want of a better word!) there are also a few regular songfighters that have expressed a degree of animosity towards the noise it makes.... (!) and quite a lot who are neither here nor there on the subject, but if there is anybody who has entered into the GOM and feels very strongly that they would not especially like to receive a track with cynthia screeching all over it then please let me know either on this forum or via PM, obviously if I don't hear from my giftee (?!?) then I'll go ahead with what I've got and polish it off, if I do hear from them and it's in the negative then I'll either have a bash at singing myself or draft in a substitute singerist.

Sorry to waffle, and I know this isn't exactly in the spirit of the thing, but I'd really like to give my he or she something that wasn't completely rubbish!
