My song is recorded, but I'm gonna tweak with it some more. It has handclaps... Lots of handclaps... :D

I'm done recording ... just need some mixing ... and believe me, I need some mixing. I think it's a pretty catchy song though ... I'll probably still be out first round.

uh...so this challenge is optional right? It seems to be worded that way in the rules, yet in the post of the title, it says "must include".

Or something like that... any clarity on the matter?

It is a 'non-optional' challenge. Handclaps are required.

ok, my song is done, but Songhole seems to be down. I'll wait and see if it is ok by tommorrow, otherwise I will email it to J$ to host for now (if that is ok with him!).

Well, I wrote my song last night. Gotta finish up some vocals tonight after work, do the handclap thing...mix it...

I went for something straightforwardly weird.

I went for the 'real life' handclaps anyway. And it just sounds like this strange popping sound. But they are handclaps, honest.

I dunno, I really want to capture the essence of a handclap, and I feel like the handclap machine is the only way to pull it off successfully... If I can't get the damn thing to work, I may have to pull out of the competition.

Yeah. I'm serious here. I have no idea how to do a handclap.

Still serious.

Ok, I'm not.

1) record a phrase of manual (sorry, couldn't resist) clapping (1 bar, 2 bar, 4 bar, whatever)
2) change your position in relation to the mike (and/or the amount of cupping your palms are doing whilst clapping) and record it again
3) repeat step 2 as desired
4) apply whatever effects and mix the handclaps down to a single track
5) loop as desired

Also, wet hands sound a bit sharper than dry. "Honey, why are you licking your palms?"

Now marching feet, that's entirely different (marching in place sounds way different than actually moving & marching). If anyone can give a good process for getting *that* down...

Don't give them ideas...

I suppose that clapping thing would work the same if you get three or so people and got them all to clap at one time from different distances.

Either way, I'll stick with my popping-clap

Should I wet one hand...or two?

...actually ... two more questions, if you don't mind Rabid...

1) Is it better if someone else wets my hands?
2) If the answer to # 1 is yes, are you available to do so?

Much obliged.

Songhole has been down since yesterday. Should I maybe email my song to J$ or Niveous? Do they have it already? So many questions...

I just don't want to get eliminated on a "WE COULDN'T ACCESS YOUR SONG" technicality. I'd rather get eliminated on a "GOD YOUR SONG SUCKS" technicality. Pshyah, like *that* will happen :)

No worries over here, we're solid. And I prefer my handclaps from a can.
