Jack - thank you! This is very cool. He's been a favorite "behind the scenes" artist and being a NYer I love the idea of needing to park only a quarter of a car. So thanks for this wonderful open production.

Hell, I wasn't really a fan of older Talking Heads but this FLVXXVM FLORVM is great.

Cynthia Size and the @eclectic spOOns has exceeded all with this fabulous flash-back to my formative years. This is a big part the sound track of my life. This and Downtown. I love this!!!!!!!

Sausage Boy and the Queens of Songfight have revived all interest in the paranoia. This is straight off Duck Stab. The unreleased B side! Awesome relentless unforgiving beauty. "Bach Is Dead!" OMG this is great. There are tears in my eyes...does this mean I can run for President?

Johnny Cashpoint's Space Pub has my head spinning the right way. It can't be that real.

Paco del Stinko plays bass. Wow. and guitar.

Frankie Big Face loves the break down and the depixilation. That's great, that ending

Yes - this is a highlight.

I want to hear a whole album - ready for next Christmas:

4. R.E.S.P.E.C.T
5. Leader Of The Pack
6. Do-Ron-Ron
7. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?
8. Downtown
and, hidden track
9. Macarthur Park

I have no idea what Roymond is talking about - but I think I agree. Yes this was wonderful. I was very happy to be a small part of it

I do actually know what roymond is talking about, and I take it as a giant compliment. Duck Stab is a milestone, to be sure. 2008 shall be the start of sausage boy's 'Duck Stab years'.

Mostly I am anxious to know what Rinky thinks. Rinky knows I want to please him.

Overall, I am happy Fat Bottom Girls came out in the charming mess it did. My half arsed take on Gold Digger was appalling, even by my standards, and I'm glad I ditched it in favour of mangling a much lover classic.

But the main props should go to Paco and Cray, who weathered the shitty mid-version and gave me something above and beyond to add to it.

Eddiebangs: This is awesome. Yeah, it's pretty true to the original, but needless to say, I like the original quite a bit too. And this song is extremely well suited to you. A fantastic job, man.

I gotta say I'm on the sp00ns bandwagon too. Of all the songs in this GoM, that one seems the most infectious. I want to collab with Cynthia Size. (What would my wife say?)

Hi all. I've downloaded the songs and should have listened to them all by this time tomorrow. Great stuff that I've listened to so far and I'll be glad to make some more comments after hearing them all.

Sausagey One: Glad to have been of service to you, and call me anytime!

Roymond: I hear your comments about me in the 'ol Ben Stein voice. :)

J$: I'll try to be brief, but thanks for the kind words and I'm glad that you enjoyed the cover. As I started to figure the song out, I said "I can play that" and "Ooo! Sounds like something I'd want to do." I was halfway through recording it as is, when I realized that I hadn't tried to turn it inside out. Familiar with solo Hitchcock and not the Soft Boys, I will definitely be obtaining a copy of that album. So, thank you!

Also: I understand if my gifter has a life and can't get the song done. I am not and will not be upset and am psyched for all of the good music that's here already. I do hafta take the source files off of my web-dump, though. Kisses!

Lunkhead:

Not the direction I would have expected this one to go at all, nice surprise.

This is the sound that I assume "Blues Manufacturing Facility" is shooting for every week. Way to show them how it's done!

Re my song choices: I admit to picking the songs that just happened to be my favorites on the iPod that particular week. My tastes change frequently.

I started to write a bit about this, but I moved it over to the With a Bang discussion thread.

Just finished, sorry for the lateness. This acts not only as my GOM but as the unveiling of a new project. Woooo! Oh, hi songfight by the way.

So I sent my votes in today and got a nice response e-mail telling me my song was too late and wouldn't be in the voting! I think maybe Soultree need to update their auto-response? Or maybe I sent it to the wrong address?

Reply to the e-mail sent this morning to the address you submitted your song from, or so it would seem. It may be that following a direct complaint from Ray Davies, your voting rights have been unceremoniously removed, of course :)

Same thing happened to me, with the too late to vote reply, but it's probably just the auto-repsonse that was used for late songs, no?

Enter It In The Art Show wrote:Albatross, thanks! The grunge "yeah" section and bass detour at the end made me want to cream my pants they were so good, and I like how you replaced the piano with the funky strumming. I always appreciate masterful bass work. Too funky man, and thanks again!
No prob, and thank you. Good to see you're still around and didn't abandon this project.

Masterful?? i think I'd rather use words like that to describe people like this guy.

As far as voting goes, I'm gonna wait for the go ahead from Eddie.

Anyway, a great collection of tunes this year, as usual. Glenn, Ross and CRay are big faves. Hmm, GlennCaravan Ross, isn't that a movie title or something???

Autoresponse was still up for late entries, but it is off now to avoid further confusion.
(Some people have yet to submit their entries, but we are still hoping they will.)
Vote away if you haven't, and if you have, I'm sure we got it.
If you did not get the email, check your junk-box...

I got the email, but where do I cast my vote? Is there a page for this, or do I just email Soultree with my #1 and #2 pick?

On the second read I noticed that. Thank you.
