Big ups on mentioning MGS3. What a fucking game. What a fucking ending especially. And also, yeah, "War never changes" is the most chilling opening to a game ever. Even though the opening is Louis Armstrong and murder, but you know dialogue-wise...

SS2 is so good. Downloaded a patch that allowed co-op mulitplayer, which just brought the game to a whole new level. And then I shot my brother in the head with a laser pistol (by accident, of course).

didn't mind this game either. Found it dragged on a little too much near the end, but some of it was really interesting. Who doesn't want to control a giant monster that eats everything?
Tonamel wrote:Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War
About time Games Workshop put their name to a computer game that is actually good. I'm a Warhammer player, and a sometimes 40k player, from way back.

If they could have fixed up the network code a little better, this game could have cleaned everyone up. It had the potential there, but it
just didn't pull it off. When you played with 12 or so people and the network started to go loopy, it was frustrating. But when it worked, my god, it was unbelievable.

Its a shame that LucasArts aren't pushing out some more of these awesome point and click adventure/puzzle games. I found Grim Fandango and all the Monkey Islands hilarious.
One game that I thought was really good and nobody seemed to like was Anacronox. It was a little confusing to begin with, you expect one type of game and you get something completely different. But if you really stuck with it, it got quite involved and interesting.

"Did he just talk smack to me?"
That game has some of THE funniest dialogue I've ever heard in a game. Sure, the combat was kind of tedious in a Final Fantasy kind of way, and the magic system... Well, I never did figure out how it worked. But the plot and dialogue are absolutely top of the line.
"I will kill you... WITH DEATH!"

Oh man, what was the sequel to Maniac Mansion?... Day Of The Tentacle, I think. That was outstanding. I loved that.
Oh, and that biker one, too. Full Throttle. That was good.
I liked Sam And Max Hit The Road but I never finished it.

Yay! Another Anacronox fan. True, the combat was tedious and the magic was hard to get to grips with, but it was a funny story. Only game I know of where the solution to your problem is to blow up a planet, that is inside a ship.

But the ending is soooooo good!!! And, yeah, Day of the Tentacle was phenomenal. But still, nothing in any game ever beats this scene:
Ben: You know what might look better under your nose?
Bartender with huge bull ring in his nose: What?
Ben: (loops his hand through the ring and slams the bartender's face down.) The bar...
Haaaaa! Also, speaking of LucasArts, no one's mentioned Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis!? That game is aaaaamazing.

Okay. I was at work today, ferociously ripping leaves off of a plant when this scene from Full Throttle popped in my head. And I was like, what a weird thing to think about. And I remembered trying to describe that part of the game to somebody a while back and that person not getting it.. and I thought.. "I might be the only person who thinks that was funny at all.." then my mind wandered to yellow, furry teeth jokes, etc. But it's superweird that I randomly thought of this today before reading your post.

Comparing it to Final Fantasy?
Okage is the story of an assuming boy who gets sold into indentured servitude under an evil shadow king by his family, in hopes of saving his sister who is under a curse that makes her speak in pig latin thus ruining her future as a pretty pretty princess. (And that's just the beginning.)
I can't see the comparison.

it wasn't so much the story, more along the lines of the battles. i admittedly didn't play it for long, maybe 10 hours max. my RPG experience up to that point had pretty much only been FF 7 through 9. so yeah, i think it was mostly the battle system i didn't like much. the story was pretty good from what i saw of it.

We ♥ Katamari is massively backordered. Amazon is estimating its shipping availability at November 23, and if we can't get it within a week (who doesn't already have it), nobody can...
Holy crap.

i can have it. and do.
it's awesome, as expected. the only thing that is kind of annoying is the king babbles way too much.
other than that, i can assure you it will be worth the wait, fluffy!

EB Games apparently has it, so I just might buy it there tomorrow and cancel my Amazon order. (I feel so dirty even thinking that!)
