And a cool $1700 a week, 10 people could go in on that and come out better than a hotel room for a week. And check out the on-site amenities: computer with DSL connection, outdoor hot tub, binoculars, and a lobster pot. Who could ask for anything more.
You can listen, but you're not going to like it.

This is turning into SongFight: The Experience. Not only are you playing music with these people, you're sleeping with them, eating with them, and living with them. Well, not sleeping *with* them, but you get what I mean.
The detached Carriage House has 2 more twin beds, a day bed (for child under 5', and a double sleeper sofa. The two twins can be made up as a large King if desired. There is also a Cable TV/VCR and stereo w/CD and tapes. This area is often delightfully claimed, by the teenagers in the group, as their special clubhouse.
:D Hell yeah.

I sure hope Mr. Sparkles is the name you gave to your guitar.

Mr. Sparkles is indeed the name of my guitar. It got a lot of love at SFL Boston.

i'm in, depending on finances (i'll be moving to allston in feb, and i need to see how this job thing will work out with loans and whatnot).

sleeps 22? hmm, is that counting floor space? i'd be willing to take one for the team and sleeping bag it if i'm not alone. then the price could be brought down even more...

edit: $365 from providence to santa cruz roundtrip on southwest...depending on the price of amtrak to providence, bus fare to santa cruz, and food/drinking money, this could be possible. i'll know for sure within a couple of months.

Hopefully one of these could get me in roughly the right place at roughly the right time, so mid June, early July or late August could work for me

both those dates look mighty appealing to me...before or after commercial fishing season!

...not that it really matters, but it would be pretty cool to have folks like Caravan Ray and Johnny Cashpoint in attendance... never mind the countless others who loiter about here.

Personally early July would be good for me. As late August is getting close to school time(especially for college kids), and then early June *is* school time (and finals, which are a bitch to make up during summer/before you go away). But then I don't care about missing school, so it's not a huge problem either way. :D

And I second that it'd be cool to get some real international people there.

ah...good call on the school thing. That'd effect me as well, what with kids.

Ok CR, you're just gonna have to find another conference...

I know its very parochial, but both these conferences coincide or butt against major US hohliday weekends. The first finishes the week before the July 4th Holiday and the second is smack on the Labor Day weekend. Airfare and lodging prices go through the roof, (US) people have family whining about visiting and getting together etc, etc etc....

This is the conference I'm missing because of "work" this year. So whenever SFL happens next year doesn't matter that much.

But anything that brings some Ausies to SFL stateside is cool!

i think finding a date that works for everyone will be virtually impossible. i agree with leaf in that i would LOVE to have folks not of this continent attending, and would love to be accomodating to their needs, especially in light of the fact that they will be shelling out the most ducats (or euros, or whatever their currency of choice may be) to get here.

but ultimately, i'll defer to the powers that be (spud and JB) to tell me what works best, if santa cruz is indeed the chosen city. sometimes executive decisions work best and we all just need to work around that.

i feel like i'm vying to host the next olympics here.....

Well, don't feel like there is any competition from me in Spokane! I am GLADLY stepping down as an excuse to visit California again.

I am trying to get ALL of the Half Racks to come down for this. We will see.

ROCK!

Well - date and place really aren't important to me, so long we have plenty of notice of when and where (at least 4 months would be good)

My wife, daughter and I are planning on getting a round-the-world ticket. First stop Ireland to visit some rellos, then England and Germany to see friends (SFL-UK anyone?) and home via the States and hopefully a Songfight.

The big 'IF's for us at the moment is we are both on short-term Government contracts that finish next year. So before we can plan anything - we both need to lock in new jobs for next year (then tell 'em we're taking 2 months holiday!). So - as soon as the job thing is sorted - we'll be All-Systems-Go.

Well, for what it's worth, I had the date set for this year's show in early February, which was still six months of advance warning. And we hadn't even settled on the city until January, so, like, no big rush right now. Though I can understand being excited and all.
