Easy - it should have won, hands down. That's how good I personally think that song is, in comparision to my other songs ....

Or to paraphrase the Hulk (Peter David era), 'What does 'nearly' mean? Nothing.'

I'd nominate King Arthur's Truth About Aspertame

I dislike country music and I still thought it was brilliant. Got 2nd, so perhaps it's just neglected, not criminally.

I agree. King Arthur's songs are criminally neglected in a) he still hasn't won one b) the reviews never quite rant and rave about him as they should.

His Lavender Splendour is genius. I like to think we all have at least one 'wow' song in our mental playlists by King Arthur. Please keep making your sound, Charles!

thanks for the nice comments. my recorder is in the shop (CD writer needs to be replaced), so I'm sorta taking a songfight sabbatical right now.

i just keep reminding myself... chuck berry never had a #1 song except "my ding-a-ling." so one of these days i'm just gonna show up with my own ding a ling in hand, and then people will have to take notice...

King Arthur may have never "won" but he's certainly got the love and respect of many here.
