It's one night. It really depends on how many people want to perform as to how long each set will be. Nearer the time we can work out times and whatnot.

(We are so damn prepared. The only reason why? This is the easiest thing to do for my HS culminating project. So, uh, if this is major-info-overload, just thank my school, I guess... On the proposal, I did get to write "This is to aid the cultural spread and interest of the organisation, SongFight, run for musicians, by musicians." BS, ftw.)

Songfight Presents PA
Saturday April, 1 2006
7-10:30pm
Central Baptist Church, 106 West Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087

Stueym and I will be having brunch at a local diner, then just kinda hanging out at the venue(setting up stuff and whatnot), then dinner somewhere, then the show. So feel free to come and hang out with us, or explore the tiny town of Wayne(it'll take you about 3 minutes), or go off and do whatever. There's a, uh, lovely mall nearby...

If you wanna train in, get to Philadelphia 30th Street Station. Then find the SEPTA regional trains in the station. http://www.septa.org/service/rr_schedules.html Get a ticket ($4.50 one way) for the R5 train to Wayne. Then get an R5 train going to Paoli/Thorndale. Don't go on the Doylestown R5 line. You don't wanna go to Doylestown.

There's a ton of hotels I can point you to, so if you're interested just PM me and I'll send you a list. Most are about 5 minutes to drive to Wayne, and you could walk it, but you'd be walking along next to route 30, and that might not be the best idea. So, though doable, you'll probably want to drive/ask someone really nicely to drive you to your hotel.

It's still like 2 months out. Nearer the time it'll firm up some more. For now I'll just let this simmer here. Simmer simmer.

Yah, we're confirmed. Any ideas of a good B&B nearby?
I can check online too, just thought you might know offhand.

If I show up, it will be mainly to say a few words about songfight, as one of the fightmasters. Highly unlikely to perform, unless someone needs me.

Just heard about this show. If there's still room, I'd like to put in a "maybe" to perform with my new project, The Strongest Man In The World. I'll teach them some Father Bingo tunes.

i can't confirm anything at this point, so maybe it would be best to say I will not be performing, but I will hopefully show up.

I think I will decline to perform but I'd be happy to play fill-in musician if anyone needs.

Wow, that's flattering; I would have guessed that about zero people on earth even knew that song. :\ I'll work on learning how to play it and you work on getting to San Jose this summer.

ok we talked this over yesterday and i can confirm that YES i definitely will be there. (asya says, if frankie big face and niveous are going to be there, it doesn't matter if we have $5 in the bank, we'll hitchhike.)

i am stubbornly unwilling to perform on my own, but if anyone is looking to add a bassist you'll find i work quite cheaply.

awwww......how can I resist now? I'll be there, but NOT performing.

(JUST KIDDING! What good would I be if I weren't performing?)

y'all are making me blush. Thanks for the encouragement, Bjam. And TVITH, you know that I'd never turn down an opportunity for you to play bass for me.

I'll be there and I'll play, but does anyone know if I can get back to NY on the same night somehow?

By train, probably not. The last train from Philadelphia to NYC is at 10:30PM and that would only work if we were playing right in 30th St. Station. You'll be in Wayne, which is a suburb of Philly and I'm not sure how late the regional trains run. Either way, you'd have to leave way early and miss most of the show. On the plus side, the earliest train from Philly on Sunday is 5:15AM and the station does have long wooden benches for you to sleep on. :D

P.S. I didn't check the bus schedules--maybe that's a possibilty.

Well.

Septa says that there's a train to Wayne from Philly at 8:44am, and then it's prettymuch every 30/60 minutes, so you're set for getting into Wayne.

The last departure for a bus is 11pm, here. So by the time you'd done a 45 minute train ride and found it, you would have to leave the concert at about 9pm.

The last train from Wayne to Philly is at 10:44pm. So if you could find some way of getting home from Philly at about 11:30. Maybe a midnight bus or something, then you're set. Other than that, it might get kind of awkward.

If it's a time thing, then you'd probably have to miss some of the end of the event thing. If it's a money-for-hotel thing, feel free to crash in our basement.

Hey! I'm trying to figure out a way that I can be a part of this. My school schedule gives me the whole weekend free. I just can't find any transportation aside from Amtrak, which is prohibitively expensive. Does anyone know a way I can get there from either the New Haven or Manhattan areas without taking Amtrak?

Greyhound buses straight into Philadelphia from New York PABT. Then depending if your arrival is Arch street bus station or 30th Street Station in Philly take the SEPTA train from either Market Station or 30th street on the R5 line straight to Wayne. Quick check shows NYC fares around the $34-40 mark round trip but it may vary depending on the exact buses you select and whether you have the student discount credentials.

New Haven would probably be a bus from New Haven to NYC PABT then change buses for Philly but on one greyhound ticket of around $82-88 regular adult fare.

That works out great! The lady and I are really looking forward to attending. Just need to find somewhere to stay. Do you know of any cheap lodging in the area? Somewhere that a broke college student could afford? And bear in mind that the more expensive the place, the more grouchy I'll be and the worse I'll perform on stage.
