No, I disagree that he is not qualified to evaluate it.

Oh ... That clears it up. Thanks!

I respectfully concur.

I also did up reviews...but I keep changing my mind. I'll post them later when I get a chance to listen again. I found, in short, that there was something about every single entry this round that I really dug, and a few tunes had things that I didn't. That's pretty awesome in my books right there. I wouldn't want to be kicking people out at this stage. I suppose one must consider actual finished material as opposed to expectations or potential... but it's still a difficult chore...and if I make it to the third round I plan on making it harder!! , (or if I dont', to all others) I'd hope that the decision gets even more difficult to make!

Y'know, I think I'm just gonna bow out. Too busy this weekend and next weekend to have any time to work on this for one reason. If people need opposite sex vocals I might be able to help.

Sad to see you go (and I hope it's not because of my review) but if that's what ya want. Denyer advances.

Ah, Juror #2 wanted me off Songfight Island. Ouch.

me too...(as in sorry to see you go) I was loving your voice on that tune... I didn't like the song (sorry) but the tone and character of your voice... I'll venture to say it is becoming alluring. (sorry stuey..but hey, I'm not her type AND I'm happily married...so...)

Yeah. Too bad. But hey, songfight songfight songfight!

The only crumby thing about this is you start to get into what people are bringing (like sven or sausage boy for me) and then they're gone...

I'd like to point out that I may have won immunity, but not one judge actually picked my song as first...that's kinda weird... but I am rather happy about it!!

Kinda neat.

But 3 of the judges voted it #2, which is exceptional.

OOPS, That's an error. I'll fix it. Juror #2 actually gave you top honors.

I figured I was out this week, but I didn't expect to have bottom marks ... whatever. More time for DSPC recording. Good luck to all the rest of you who survived!

Here's how I would call it:
(btw - these were decided before the official rankings came out)

1. Denyer: Wonderful. Great beats, great delivery (almost perfect – you slide off once or twice) and the lyrics are a powerful and poignant study of relationships in the 21st century. Shame it seems to have nothing to do with the title. BTW – is that Clive Robertson at the end? If so – earn extra ‘street cred’ points

2. Kamakura: Almost wrote this off as slow and dull – but another listen and this really grew on me. Great vocals – good catchy chorus. Love the distortded guitar

3. Ken: Great catchy pop song – nice subdued percussion gives a nice sleepy feeling. Great chorus, good performance. I really like this one.

EDIT: Oops - forgot one
3.5 Jim Tyrrell: No immunity needed. Very King Missile. This is great - your spoken delivery is just perfect - and a nice funny little story. Good stuff

4. Wreckdom: Great take on the title. Falsetto gets a little annoying – but this is still thoroughly entertaining

5. Sausage Boy: Everyone has said it – but the vocals were too hidden here – it killed an otherwise great song. Personally – I’d like to hear Dave Graney singing this.

6. Leaf 62: This is really well done – great vocals, big sound, “It burnsâ€

Same thing happened to me last week. I think thats a reason I never win a songfight..:) Congrats!

this clearly shows that both of you (thornberry and leaf) had the consensus strongest song and deserved immunity the most. at least it's a pretty fair judge of what was perceived as the overall "best" song by 4 people with obviously a wide range of ideas as to what is considered the "best" song.

absolutely vintage octothorpe. i can barely understand a word but i'm still smiling. :)
ok, guilty as charged spud, and you're my bud so the least i can try to do is give you an explanation of my feelings about your music. i think your vision, and more importantly your trueness to it, is really admirable. i honestly believe part of it is your recorded sound just doesn't do justice to who and what you guys are. i completely respect your perseverence, and your production has gotten much better on a recording level. i could say that mad dog could certainly work on nailing his parts better, but then it wouldn't be the mad dog i know and love! to me anyways, you guys are like the tom waits of songfight. some people are gonna love it and some are gonna hate it and not understand what people see in it. because it's unique and different and true to it's colors.

and quit cryin about reviews. where's yers ;)
