A capital H? If it's something else, pick a different word. You obviously know the history of Hxaro on the forum here, so your choice of username can not have been inadvertant.

True - but I must add that I need the "organized $foo-fests". Unless there is some sort of competition involved I have no motivation to do anything.

That's why I like Songfight!. It makes songwriting a sport.

at which you are 0-32!

the whole thing of pirating my anti-hxaro thread into a hxaro on the monkey biz topic is just too meta-ironic for me. take it back to sidefights! :P

Well, I like the Hxarofests because they get me to look at somebody's music I might not otherwise attempt to cover... and I've been telling myself for a few weeks now that I oughta get working on some covers, and now I'm workin' on one.

As far as the term "hxaro" goes: I realize that Songfight has taken the original term and made something else out of it, but that's... do-able. The term "hxaro" around here has come to mean covering another songfighter's song, and I think that's a cool thing to do. And I think the existence of the term (misused as it may be) has helped make that happen more often than it might otherwise.

And... in reaction to Ray's comment, the thing I like about the hxarofests is that they are not competitive - there's no voting, there's little or no reviewing, the big winner is the person who gets to hear their songs covered, and there are no losers. Personally, I prefer doing a hxarofest to doing a coverfight. YMMV and that's okay too...

(sorry for the verboseness... I had to do my English class final exam essays a couple days ago and I haven't shifted out of "writing for the professor" mode yet).

Oh, and as far as "mum's the word" - targetperson already knows that something is up, so maybe we should just do everything differently this time. Organize in public, post the songs as soon as they're ready, and then when the deadline date arrives, take them down :-)

And to echo Jim T's offer... if anybody would like a KA hxaro of one of their songs, feel free to PM and ask, I'll see what I can do :-)

*sniff* I never got asked..... I'm gonna take a hot bath, with bubbles (not the trailer park boys kind) and drink myself into oblivion with three bottles of bad scotch.

Actually guys, I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't quite caught the drift.

In case there was any doubt, Phunt's in.

This could be fun. I got an invite so I might have to oblige. Is this thing actually on?

EDIT: I'm a tiltawhirl all of a sudden ... not a pirate anymore. :(

Wait--are you calling me a homo? /crates

Really though, I bet he wouldn't notice or would forget if we just sorta... stopped mentioning his name. I know, it's a bizarre notion, but I get the feeling it just hasn't really sunk in yet.

Ya know, I actually did a hxaro on Neil Thrun a while back, and despite posting about it in three different threads and then even PMing him, I don't think he ever did realize it was there...

This is the true meaning of Hxaro :) Sort of like The Residents' Not Available album. Until they released it.
