I had to edit the image a bit since the name of the game was right there on it. I hope that's okay.

Hey, how was I supposed to know it was a scrolling screen? You only gave us a partial screen shot.

I didn't crop it or anything, I just blurred out the main character's name in the corner. That really is the original aspect ratio.

I think he was talking about Advanced Dungeons and Dragons versus Sharp Shot.

ROCK!

Ah.

No guesses on mine yet? It was my favorite laundromat timewaster for a year.

Well, there was no way for me to get a real screen shot since my Intellivision is in Buffalo and I'm not - so I had to grab one I found on the web. Gotta take what I can get. Actually AD&D didn't have any on-screen info - you had to count your arrows using clicks, for one thing... I believe that may actually be a full-screen shot. Don't know what fluffy's is.

No guesses yet?
Should I give a hint?

Give a hint, please.

Save your friends from Japanese mythology. Here Comes The Homophone.

Clearly more hints are needed.

Super Xevious isn't the only game with a tenuous connection to George Orwell.

1984 Arcade. WHAT.

The protagonist of this game would go on to kick the snot out of Spider-Man.

(That one probably just gave it away.)

Well, it's not Total Carnage! :-/

Is there a timeout before I can post the answer and win the point myself (having retained control of the board)? This is getting boring.

Or the Punisher.

I don't think we should encourage posters to name the most ridiculously obscure games from their childhood and give out cryptic clues for six hours before getting to answer their own question and post another one.

I like revelling in our common experience every now and then. I don't want the thread to look like this in three days:

WHAT YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF CAVERNS OF KHAFKA? IT WAS LIKE THE BEST FOURWAY SCROLLING ADVENTURE GAME IN 1984-1986! I SPENT SOOO MUCH TIME ON IT.

But I didn't think this game was all that obscure. It's in the laundromat at the apartment I used to live at (which is why I played it so much) and it's on several 150-in-1 cartridges from Hong Kong and so on. The clues I gave should also make it really easy to find from various wild-assed guesses and browsing KLOV, which is how I answered the one which gave me control to begin with.

Okay, fine. game. The protagonist was also in "Marvel vs. Capcom."

Here's an easier one.

Hint: It never officially shipped, because of a spurious lawsuit from a famous Japanese company, but it was very widely-spread in the floppy-trading scene anyway. Oops.

(and then, about the same game)

Crap. I should've guessed SonSon. I had looked at the wiki on that game and for some reason said no. Perhaps it was the cryptic clues.

Sometimes not shipping makes things MORE notorious. Duke Nukem Forever, anyone?

This is one of those cases.

Also, part of the name is in the screenshot.

What about the clues made you not guess SonSon? Here comes the homophone! (Sun = son) And then the Spider-Man thing I explained already.
