Oh man, that option-click setting is pretty well-hidden, and not at ALL standard to Mac apps. Did you read about it somewhere or did you just happen to try it?

It's, like, in the manual. On the second page after INSTALL, where they talk about "Knobs"

I recently got an email at work advertising the
Stealth Plug audio interface cable. It looks like a useful gadget.
I'd just like to warn people though, if you do try to reasearch this product on your office computer, googling the product name may lead your IT administrators to wonder you have just developed a sudden interest in anal vibrators
