Glenn: if you have my Mii, it's because I set it to 'Mingle'.
If it shows up over there, it's most likely gonna be in your Mii Parade thingy.
I think that's how it works, anyway.
I got a Ken Mahru that I think Fluffy made. Fun!

Man I need to hook my Wii back up so I can receive some Miis and finish sending them out to you guys. I can't wait until the games start going online. Smash Bros. tournament, anyone?

I specifically sent a bunch of Miis to a bunch of people. Glenn, you should have gotten the complete complement of Song Fighter Miis that I made.
Also, all of my Miis are set to mingle.
Also, people really should set the "created by" attribute so people know who made them!
When you send a Mii from the "Wii Friend" icon on the Mii Plaza, the Mii gets (rather unceremoniously) dumped onto the friend's plaza. When it simply mingles it shows up in the Mii Parade and then you have the option of dumping it on the plaza yourself (by dragging it to the "Send to plaza" icon).
This shit be addictive, yo.

That one's 'on the list'. We saw a preview and it looked pretty interesting. My wife and the boys were won over by the cute characters, but I was left wondering if the gameplay was actually any good. What's the word?

i don't have a lot of time invested yet, but it's really fun. the mechanics are something special that could only be done with the wii remote. it's very intuitive.
did you ever see this old nickelodeon gameshow where there was a house, and the kids had to tear up a room to find a flag or something? i always wanted to be on that show, and this game makes me feel like i am!

So I guess Miis which come through the parade never say who they were made by. You only find out if the author decides to send the Mii to you directly.

Oh really? That's unfortunate. But it explains the ever-growing collection of grandmothers over here. Does everyone make a grammy Mii or what? Scarier still, they all mingle!
Starfinger: I got Elebits over the weekend, and yes, it is great. The kids picked up on the controls pretty quick, too - even the 3-year old.
Well, Sean (the baby) doesn't get it yet, of course. But he's more than happy to try and chew on the Nunchuck.

Wow, you got me beat by at least 30.
Have you done the training on there? The bowling trainings are as much fun as the regular game.

Is "grammy" a euphemism for "Hitler?" Because I've gotten a hell of a lot of those. Maybe that says something about my friends more than anything.
Also, it sounds like I need to get Elebits.

stupidest wii maneuver yet:
demonstrating wii sports tennis for my dad, I did a leaping overhand serve right into our ceiling fan. luckily I only broke the wii remote's battery cover.
on the other hand, i have not bowled into a child in 2 days.. hurray!

There's a web site that collects Wii-relate injury and damage footage. Got any pictures of the wreckage?

Man, there's people who haven't already had 'wii have a problem' drilled into their heads? I think that site's been around (and heavily referred to by idiots who don't understand the difference between personal responsibility and a corporate screwup) since like two days after the Wii came out.
They were one of the driving forces (though I don't think they were directly involved) behind the retarded class-action lawsuit against Nintendo for the "broken wrist strap" problem, when Nintendo already did everything they could to fix it, not that there are any actual documented cases of the wrist strap breaking and causing damage anyway. The original wrist strap was still capable of withstanding a LOT of load before it'd break (possibly more than one's wrist).
I think all the claims of a broken wrist strap were from people who were just ignoring the repeated warnings to use the wrist strap and ended up throwing their remote into their TV or whatever.
Anecdotally, someone brought a Wii to my department's holiday party, and this one guy who thinks he's perfect was playing without the wrist strap (and getting REALLY into Tennis), and I was all like, "Dude, Tom, use the damn wrist strap," and he was like, "Nah, it's okay, nothing'll happen," and then 10 seconds later the remote flew out of his hand and into a support column, just BARELY missing a bystander, and (rightfully) pissing off the guy who owned the Wii.
I know how easy it is to get caught up in the game but, seriously, if you actually pay attention to the warnings that Nintendo puts up before every single game (and which some games remind you of before every single level), you won't run into trouble. It's stupid and frustrating how Nintendo is being ultra-safe and conservative about this stuff and people STILL turn into gibbering idiots who want to blame Nintendo for their broken TV.

True that. My kids are still pretty good about following the rules, because I'm still pretty good about setting the example. We've had no damage or injuries to report. The batteries did wear out in the controller that came with the unit though. I'm hopeful that the Duracells I put in are going to last longer than the Nintendo-provided batteries.

My recommendation, battery-wise, is the Nyko Charge Dock. It's only $30 and it makes the Wiimotes easy to recharge (you just pop it in when you're done) and also improves the grip in the meantime. TCO should be WAY lower than disposable batteries after even just a year (since alkaline batteries cost around $2 per 20-30 hours of play time, depending on brand and so on). Basically it pays for itself after 200 hours.
