Ok, in. Not my usual thing, but I like to think I'm somewhat eclectic here.
Looking forward to the fight. Year three, here I come!!!

Mine is done, but I want to get a fresh listen tomorrow morning for the final mix.
This entry is very different for me, and I don't think it will be well received, but I like it. I don't know where my mind has been the last couple weeks.

So I wasn't in before. I had decided until last night that I did not like this title one bit and would not participate in this songfight. That is until I realized what I can do with this song! I sort of completely ignored the 3 in the title. Anyway, I'm entering this week under the name "Raspy Jasper" with a friend of mine who played lead for me on the track. There are two versions of the song, and I'm somewhat undecided on which version to enter, but yeah.

You guys will have to excuse the production on this one. I've been stuck away from all my equipment for a week and a half now, but dammit I really wanted to submit this one.

Indeed. Well, I was, anyway. Blue is a law unto himself.

If you've not heard DFA 1979 before, here's a couple of links. I can imagine it's a sound members of Gert might enjoy

http://www.gangassets01.com/dfa1979/Dea ... d_Womb.mp3

http://www.gangassets01.com/dfa1979/07% ... 20Girl.wma

Pretty good for a bass / drums duo. Puce doesn't like 'em much though.

j$

PS the link to the DFA records website, home to the awesome LCD Soundsystem, is not only a good place for people into the funky punk funk sound, but it is also who caused DFA 1979 to add the 1979. Something which DFA 1979 were famously not very happy about. i wish I could find a link to the press release about it, where they declared a music jihad on james Murphy - it was kinda funny.

Death From Above are great, albeit have to be in the right mood for it, but LCD Soundsystem was on heavy rotation two summers ago while I was down in the south, by the equator, burning my canadian ass off.

No recording love for me. Life with toddlers in a small house means the only free time I usually get is when they're sleeping, and then I can't make noise recording. Bluh.

Just for fun, here are most of the lyrics; note acronyms like 'LOL' and 'L8R' were going to be sung letter-by-letter, and !'s were going to be sung as the word "exclamation."

---

I'm a twerp, I'm a jerk, I'm a real piece of work
people shun me on the street
but my MySpace page is sweet
and my Warcraft guild all thinks I'm leet

LOL, can you tell that I never learned to spell
when I'm texting on my phone
while I'm sitting here alone
L8R I'm going home

(chorus)
ROFL ROFL are you f'ing kidding me
IMHO IMHO I am a lot of fun
ROFLMAO my loneliness is killing me
!!!1

I'm a twerp, I'm a noob, when I surf the Intertubes
I am chatting in all caps
while I'm playing online craps
and downloading righteous nerdcore raps

First I sigh, then I cry, but my parents won't comply
so I've got no PS3
can't afford the XBox fee
guess I'm stuck here playing with my Wii

(and so on)
---

I had another two chorus options, but neither was ready to go, so I won't throw those in. Hope you enjoyed reading it -- it was fun to write, but not recording it sucked.

I sent in with a friend who has never songfought. I also sent in with the wrong filename. Is it helpful to resend with the better file name? Or should I not clutter the fightmaster mailbox? hrmmm...

Hey Fluffy, that link went to a 404 -- any chance you can correct that? I'm curious as to the crunchy center that can be found therein.

Depends on how wrong the filename is, I suppose. If we can figure it out, you're probably OK.

btw, songs won't be posted until there is a review thread. I'm not saying that creating a review thread will cause the songs to be posted, but not creating one will cause them to not be posted, fer shizzle.

Wow, fluffy -- that's an odd little flash thingy you linked to. I was kind of into it until the girl started "singing" -- but there were so many effects I couldn't make out a word of it.

I'm so very, very old. Now get off my lawn.

I gotta check out LCD Soundsystem. Blue gave me a copy of DFA1979 last month and I cannot stop the rock. Love that sound.

Well, you didn't post my song this week so I might have messed up the filename a lot. :D Or maybe it's cause I sent it like thirty minutes before the deadline and it didn't get there on time for the speedy update. I guess I'll resend it and clutter your mailbox. This time with better filename!

I'd say they didn't receive it. I've sent songs a minute or two before the deadline and still get in.

I'm such a f**king procrastinater. <<see, I just added this at the last second before I hit submit.
