Oh man. I think I've got at least 15 minutes of music now. Caravan Ray's idea of using a tuneflow title may help me out, and I guess I'll try to do the new week's title. Wish me luck, since I'm struggling to even hit 20 minutes here. I would really hate to submit to my temptation and write an instrumental. I haven't succombed to that yet.
On the bright side, I have finished every twist besides #s 7, 10 and 11. I don't plan on doing 11, as it seems to contradict what the AAW is about.
And I still don't have any finished material. At least I have all my guitar tracks - that's what takes the most time for me.

I'm sick
My lovely daughter has brought home an exciting new virus from daycare. I currently have about 22 min recorded - which will stretch out to maybe 25+ minutes with remixing/rearranging. I have 2 more song ideas if I get a chance to record then. So long as I get time - I will reach the 35 min I think

So out of the entire summer I think this is the worst week I could've picked for AAWWTF
So many things I made plans for months ago are suddenly all this week, and... oh man. Concerts, reading, parties, interviews, dentist, work, hair cuts, helping friends with stuff, planning trips... I have about 15 minutes so far, but I reeeeally doubt I'm gonna be able to make it to 35.
I should just do it next week. Next week I'm doing nothing

You've got as much as me, and I've been working straight this entire time. Just keep pushing through! (this goes out to all who are in my position and really don't think they can complete this).Bjam wrote:So out of the entire summer I think this is the worst week I could've picked for AAWWTFSo many things I made plans for months ago are suddenly all this week, and... oh man. EDIT - I've got another 3 minute one! I'm raiding the old SF titles, in hopes that I'll find some inspiration, as I'm totally drained right now.

Thanks for bringing that up, HI. I used the SF Idea Generator for my last AAW, as well as for my personal album - it's helped me immensely for several months. I may have to delve into it if I really need more songs. As of now, I'm working on 14 songs. I'm done for today though - I don't want to totally wear myself out. Everything in moderation, right?

Yeah, but that was one song a week. I'm working on #2 (song) *giggles* as we speak. I'm just waiting for my crashed computer to finish doing that scan disc thing, (on my laptop now) or what ever it's called when it slowly goes from 0 to 100, yada yada. I hate that when I'm deep in a groove recording and I hear, "clicka clicka" and the monitor goes blank! Then reboots. My groove shrinks. Oh well, life is too short to pet the sweaty things.rdurand wrote:Ok, 10 minutes worth mixed and uploaded. Out to the music room for more!
C'mon Chris, you can do this - you made round 5 of Nur Ein!

The thing that has amazed me about this is how 'do-able' it actually is. I'm pretty sure none of my stuff is going to be great - but I have written close to 10 songs this week!jolly roger wrote:You've got as much as me, and I've been working straight this entire time. I really need these type of challenges to actually do anything. Prior to finding Songfight - I think I wrote 6 songs over a period of 20 years. In the last 3 years I done close to 80 or so songs - simply because Songfight put the 'challenge' element into it. This and Nur Ein just take it a bit further.
I read once in a book by Steven King about being a writer - he said "if you want to be a writer - you have to write". I really took that to heart and enjoy how these type of things prod me along. And as I said - I doubt there will be any hit singles on my album - but there are a lot of ideas that may be expanded upon later.
Actually - this is a pretty bad week for me too, apart from catching a cold - I have also started rehearsal this week for a part in the chorus in a local production of HMS Pinafore. I have never attempted the musical theatre thing before - it looks like fun. That will probably eat into my precious songwriting time though for the next 3 months or so.

I'm off to a really bad start, but I've been practicing my vocals in the car to/from work. So if I actually find time to AAWize I'll be set. I might have to just AAD it all on Sunday. <strike>But I'm doing this even if I have to bury the result 6 feet under</strike>.
Ross, there's no turning back! It sounds like you've got a strong start compared to some of us. Show me the way!

Ok, another three minute jobby done tonight. Inspired by, but not totally true to, one of the twists.
I think I have about 15 minutes completed now, and about 20 in the works[edit, what I meant is what i've got in the works will give me total of 20 minutes].
I assume when we're done we should post what we've got whether it's 35 minutes or not.

I have pointed a microphone to the sky where I am recording the background radiation echoing from the big bang. With a dance beat behind it, it can easily make up any shortfalls in the required 35 minutes.rdurand wrote: I assume when we're done we should post what we've got whether it's 35 minutes or not.
Tentative album title: Caravan Ray - All Filler, No Killer.

Ok, 15 minutes worth mixed down.
A 3-minutes-and-something in the works.
That's only half way there, and J$ already took my cosmic background idea. I can't cover 4'33".....
hmm.

I see the light at the end of the tunnel.
However, it feels far too distant. I counted what I've got so far, and I've hit the 24 minute mark - and that's without the 2.5 acoustic songs I'm working on right now. All I have to do is drag out those songs to 5 minutes each, and with a short metal instrumental, I should be set.
But all I have recorded is electric guitars.
EDIT - which are now finished!!

Oh, by the way. I would be interested in preserving track order when I'm done. Anyone out there who can instruct me how to make one of those nifty "stream all" buttons?
